According to The Daily Mail, Hull City are hoping to sign Steve Finnan from Espanyol now that Sunderland have decided to recall Paul McShane from his loan spell on Humberside.
Finnan joined theParakeetslast summer after spending five seasons at Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable defenders.
However, injury problems, a dip in formand the rise of Alvaro Arbeloa sawthe 32-year-oldslip down the ranks at Anfield last term, resulting in his move to Catalunya.
But things have gone from bad to worse for Finnan in La Liga. He has made just four appearances all season, and there is talk that he could be shipped out after just half ayear in Barcelona.
Tottenham Hotspur had hoped to draft in the veteran full-back on a six-month loan deal, but Hull are apparently ready to offer him a permanent return to England.
