Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino To Appear In Court

Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino is set to appear in court on Wednesday to give evidence in an extortion case against Fabrizio Corona.

Corona is an Italian businessman who has been accused of extortion against a number of top celebrities from the sporting world.

ANSA claims the accused will also stand alongside Marco Bonato, who is also alleged to have committed extortion offences against a number of high-profile Italian VIPs.

Gilardino will be in action later tonight as Fiorentina clash with Napoli at the Artemio Franchi, but he will be appearing before judges in a Milanese court on Thursday morning to give evidence in the case.

Corona has already spent time in prison for his involvement in the Valettopoli scandal in 2006, in which he was accused of the same offence.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina will be hoping for maximum points against Napoli as they continue to fight for a Champions League place.
