Ramón Calderón may have left his role as Real Madrid president, but some fans may well be wishing that he hadn't, with news emerging that he had two huge deals tied down.
20minutos.es claims that the former president had secured deals for both Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Agüero to join the defending La Liga champions this summer.
Furthermore, they state that these are the two, 'big signings', that he spoke about in November last year.
A source close to the club apparently assured that, 'in the case of the Portuguese player, it was the third agreement with the representative, Jorge Mendes, and was close to €80 million.'
As for Agüero, he claimed that the deal is, 'signed and sealed in a registry office in Madrid, everything agreed upon.'
The same source stated that at the time the deal for Agüero was made at around €60 million.
To add more intrigue it is reported that last Friday, the day when Calderón resigned, he received a phone call from Atlético Madrid presisdent, Enrique Cerezo.
The source claims that Cerezo asked Calderón, 'not to resign, because the sale of Agüero is a very profitable operation.'
The question now is whether or not the deals would still stand with Calderón gone, but the likelihood is that they would be broken with the exit of the former president.
Apparently he was planning on revealing the two conquests next summer, so that he could win the Real Madrid faithful over again.
This story will no doubt fuel more rumours of a move for Ronaldo to the Bernabéu in the near future, and for Agüero and Cerezo, it could ask some serious questions of the pair, considering how talismanic the player is to the club, and the rivalry between the two teams.
