Juventus To Hold Talks With Werder Bremen Ace Diego - Reports

Juventus are in pole position to sign Werder Bremen star Diego, despite interest from Manchester City and Barcelona.

The Bianconeri are keen on the Brazilian midfielder, who is being tipped as Pavel Nedved's replacement. Coach Claudio Ranieri revealed his liking for the player on Thursday when he told the media that Juve were looking at him.

The move is now beginning to take shape as Tuttosport claims Diego's father and agent Djair Ribas will be flying to Turin within the next few days to hold some crunch talks with the Bianconeri.

Alessio Secco will be busy but, with the January transfer window coming towards an end, any chance of sealing the deal soon is unlikely. The process of bringing Diego to Italy will be long and dragged out. Juve have been after the player for over a year and they will have to wait until the end of the season in order to land their man.

As well as trying to convince Diego and his father, the Bianconeri have the mammoth task of swaying directors at the German club to part company with their key man. Reports suggest Secco will meet with the German club's directors in February when Werder Bremen come to Italy to play Milan in the UEFA Cup last 16 stage.

The Old Lady will need to move in quickly to avoid missing out as Manchester City are believed to be interested in the diminutive star after missing out on Kaka.
