No Italians In UEFA Team Of The Year For The First Time In Eight Seasons

No Italian player was in UEFA's team of the year which was voted by fans of the European football's governing body's official website.

Perhaps the 3.3 million votes were conditioned from the Azzurri's woeful Euro 2008 campaign. Eventual winners Spain dominated the team with six of the XI players coming from La Seleccion. Barcelona are the club with most players with three Blaugrana stars in the line-up.

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson was also voted as the best tactician.

Here is the winning formation(4-4-2): Iker Casillas (Spa, Real Madrid); Sergio Ramos (Spa, Real Madrid), John Terry (Eng, Chelsea), Carles Puyol (Spa, Barcellona), Philipp Lahm (Ger, Bayern Munich); Cristiano Ronaldo (Por, Manchester United), Xavi Hernandez (Spa, Barcellona), Cesc Fabregas (Spa, Arsenal), Franck Ribery (Fra, Bayern Munich); Lionel Messi (Arg, Barcellona), Fernando Torres (Spa, Liverpool).

Coach:Alex Ferguson (Eng, Manchester United).

The Primera Division and Premier League have dominated the team and,as a result, Serie A is looking less than perfect. Spain's dominance as well as Manchester United's incredible season have influenced the fans selections, leaving Italy red-faced.
