Player Ratings: Catania 0-2 Inter

Player Ratings

Catania

Bizzarri -5.5: The goalkeeper had a pretty quiet game. He was helpless with Stankovic's header. He made a couple of decent saves, but he let himself down when he gifted Maicon the chance to make it 2-0.

Silvestri -6.5: Silvestri's game was mixed. He made some decent challenges on Julio Cruz and kept the Argentinean at bay for most of the game. However, his positional sense and ability to deal with crosses was not always great.

Silvestre -6.0: The stopper had a decent game. He worked hard at the back and offered Bizzarri plenty of protection. His interceptions on Ibrahimovic were class and he showed great discipline to stay on his feet rather than dive in.

Stovini -7.5: One of Catania's best players on the night. He was a rock in defence.

Capuano -7.0: Capuano, who is on-loan from Palermo, deserves high praise for the way he made Maicon look silly in the first half. The defender roasted his opposite number as he twisted and turned. Only his finish was lacking. A good contribution overall.

Martinez -6.5: The midfielder was solid and he commanded the park alongside Baiocco. Always on hand to create and break the play. Some of his long-ball passing was outstanding. Would have scored had it not been for Cambiasso's block.

Baiocco -7.5: A contender for man of the match for his flawless first half showing. He did everything right and was unlucky not to have hit the back of the net. The all in one player and performance if there ever was one.

Tedesco -6.5: Tedesco showed all his qualities against the Nerazzurri. He got on with the job and did the simple things effectively. His passing was good from start to finish. He pulled the strings in every sense and was always on hand to fight for the cause.

Morimoto -5.5: The Japanese playmaker drifted in and out of the match. At times his game seemed to stall to idle mode and it got worse as the game went on.

Paolucci -6.5: The former Atalanta hitman did his best on a night when all things seemed to go against him. Especially the referee as he disallowed a perfectly legitimate goal. Always the dangerman, but the his head and performance dipped.

Mascara -7.0: A spirited fight from Mascara and he never gave up until the end. An outstanding display of professionalism. He fought hard for his side and he was at the centre of everything. Attacked, defended, created plenty, but was unable to push his side further.

Subs: Llama 5.5, Spinesi 5.0, D'amico N/A.

Inter

Cesar -6.0: The shot-stopper was called into action a few times and he made sure his side would be protected from any danger as he made some incredible stops. His best was the quick reaction on Tedesco's shot.

Maicon -6.0: Maicon made some good runs down the right, but his final ball was not always worthy of mention. Looked comfortable for most part, but he did have some scares to deal with. In particular Capuano's incredible show of skill.

Cordoba -7.5: Cordoba was one of the best players on the park. He was always in the right place. Got tight on Paolucci to make life hard for the striker. Risked plenty, but it was worth it as he helped his side keep a clean sheet.

Burdisso -7.0: One of Inter's unsung heroes on the night. Burdisso controlled the back line and he pulled out all the stops, especially when his side were under the hammer for the most part.

Santon -6.5: The left-winger was playing his third game of the season and, although he lacks the experience, it did not show one bit. He was always comfortable on the flanks and made some vital clearances in the box.

Zanetti -6.0: The captain had a quiet game. He played in the hole between midfield and defence. He did his job effectively and he worked hard.

Cambiasso -7.5: Cambiasso was outstanding. He was the thorn in Catania's side. The sort of performance which gets under the opposition's noses so much. The Rossoazzurri must have felt like punching him as he was a nuisance to them.

Muntari -5.5: The former Portsmouth midfielder was unfortunate to have been sent off. His lunge on Tedesco was not worthy of a straight red. He was good up until that point.

Stankovic -8.0: Man of the match for the simple reason that he scored one and made one for his side. A great header on five minutes to draw first blood. And then he sealed the near-perfect display with a wonder pass for Ibrahimovic's to score Inter's second.

Cruz -5.5: The Argentinean striker had a mixed game. His assist for Stankovic was, perhaps, his best contribution. Apart from this, he spent most of the game, like a drunk farmer on ale, shooting wildly.

Ibrahimovic -7.5: There is no doubt that Inter are on the next level when this man plays. He was devastating all game. His vision, skill, shooting and passing was of the highest quality. He made Bizzarri look silly with a delightful lob to make it 2-0 and bury the Sicilians.

Subs: Maxwell 5.5, Rivas N/A, Figo 5.5.
