Leverkusen Hoping To Hang On To Barcelona Loanee Henrique

The Blaugrana signed the 22-year-old stopper from Palmeiras last summer, but he was sent to the Bundesliga immediately as the club's defensive stocks were already ample. Now, the powers that be at Leverkusen are sweating on whether their hopes of hanging on to the defender longer beyond the original loan period are doomed.

"We want to have Henrique with us for another season, but we definitely know it is Barcelona who will decide what do with him," Leverkusen director Rudi Voller said to Bild newspaper.

"We hope to find out his future in the next four to six weeks."
