Newcastle United After Atlético Madrid's Luis García - Reports

Luis García's unhappy spell at Atlético Madrid could come to an end soon, with Newcastle United apparently interested in bringing him back to England.

García joined the Spanish side in part of the deal that saw Fernando Torres move to Liverpool, but he has failed to settle into the team, and is not seen as part of Javier Aguirre's plans.

The midfielder has also not been well received by the fans for some of his performances, and Sport reports that Newcastle are ready to sign him this winter.

It has been known that a few English clubs have had their eye on García, but it appears that the Magpies are the last with serious interest, and they could even be willing to use José Enrique in a trade deal.

The defender has been an integral part of the Newcastle side this season, but reportedly they would be willing to part with him if they could bring in midfielder García.

If a deal is to be done it will have to be in the next day or so, and with Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Fulham seemingly out of the race, Newcastle appear to be the only option.

It is thought that the Spaniard wishes to leave the club this winter to try and get some first-team football, something he has not found at Atlético Madrid.
