Florentino Perez is said to be one of the early favourites to take the job, which is all the more remarkable considering his history.

Remember, this man is the architect of the Galacticos era, and although he did succeed in bringing some top world stars to Madrid, his overall record is open to question - such as his conduct over Claude Makelele.
