Eidur Gudjohnsen On Blackburn Rovers' Radar

The Sun, one of Britain's most rumour-happy tabloids, claims that Blackburn Rovers are pondering over a move for Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The Icelandic international is well known to English fans, having spent two seasons - one of those under Sam Allardyce, the current Rovers boss- at Bolton Wanderers before moving to Chelsea in 2000.

However, since leaving Stamford Bridge for the Camp Nou six years later, the 30-year-oldhas found first-team opportunities very hard to come by, having made just 32 Primera Division starts to date.

Competition is particularly fierce in Josep Guardiola's squad at the moment, with Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o all in top form this term.

So a return to the Premier League could attract Gudjohnsen, whose experience and versatility would be an invaluable addition to a Rovers side faced with relegation.
