David Villa Agent Anger Over Real Madrid Bid

David Villa's agent has criticised Real Madrid for trying to use the problems at Valencia last summer to sneak through a deal to sign his player on the cheap.

Los Merengues put in a bid in the final days of the transfer window before the season began after the striker had penned a new deal with Los Ché, but refused to pay €5 million more to meet the asking price.

José Lios Tamargo was wholly unimpressed with Madrid's attempts to use the confusion in the boardroom, that saw Agustín Morera replaced as president by Vicente Soriano.

"Villa is not playing for Real Madrid because of €5 million," he told Intereconomía Televisión .

"Madrid wanted to take advantage of the changeover of president and the economic problems. I think that attitude was offensive.

"To try to sign him at the last minute made no sense as he had already agreed to sign a new deal with Valencia and he was not paying no attention to the matter.

"The player knew all about the talks between the two clubs and now they have spent millions in the winter market. It is a shame."
