Palmeiras have confirmed today that they have signed Brazilian midfielder, Edmilson from Spanish club Villarreal.
The 32-year-old will undergo the traditional medical on Friday, just in time to be registered for the Copa Libertadores. He declared himself to be "extremely happy" today.
Marca reports that the Brazilian has signed a two year with the club, which is managed by Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
The player spoke briefly in a message today. "It is clear that I am no longer a 20-year-old kid," he stated.
"However, I want to win a Brazilian championship, a Libertadores - things that I have not yet done - and I want to return to the Brazilian national team."
Since joining Villarreal, Edmilson has found playing time hard to come by and Manuel Pellegrini has not counted on him as a first-choice player in his side.
He does have plenty of trophies to his name already, with the World Cup back in 2002 and the Champions League in 2006, with Barcelona, probably the highlights of his career to date.
Palmeiras debut in the Libertadores next week against Bolivian side Real Potosí and their other new signing, Keirrison, is likely to play along with Edmilson.
