Chaparro Praises Sergio Garcia For His Role In Real Betis Win

Betis brought their run of six games without a win a stunning halt with a crucial 3-1 win against a Valladolid side who have a decent home record.

Striker Sergio Garcia bagged a crucial second-half double to pull his side away from the relegation zone and into the relative security of 13th place in the Primera Division table.

Chaparro was full of praise for the striker who has struggled to find the net this season but was on form today, and he said on him and the match,"Garcia is very good and very skillful. I had been worried about the way that results were going, so I am very happy with this win."

Concern

Chaparro had every right to be worried, as Betis were playing poorly and lost consecutive home matches to Athletic Bilbao and Malaga, and not only was there concern that relegation could be an issue, also that Chaparro may be in danger of losing his job.

But this win has given him some breathing space, and he admitted that his side needed the win.

He said, "There was great concern for me, and the last six games have been tough.

"The team on the field did well today, I didn't feel under threat but when you start to lose games, you never know."
