News that Juventus officially signed Christian Poulsen, who Italians remember best from an ugly incident involving Francesco Totti at Euro 2004, has enraged the tifosi in Turin. It seems the main bone of contention is the handsome transfer fee that the zebras have shelled out to Sevilla to acquire the 28-year-old - €10m.
But Juve fans have also passed judgment on the midfielder’s technical abilities, which they feel, do not meet their club’s standards. To show their displeasure, supporters have put up a banner at the ground where Juventus is currently preparing for the new season. The banner read: “Ridiculous, you’ve signed another rubbish player: Poulsen.”
It is no secret that Juventus fans have been eager on bringing in a more creative midfielder, such as Xabi Alonso, who was thought to be on the brink of a move less than two weeks ago. Currently, Juventus’ central midfield pairing is formed by hard men Momo Sissoko and Cristiano Zanetti.
While there is still some time for Juventus to move in the transfer market, it appears the club can do no right in the eyes of their fans.
