Zenit Deny Arshavin Talks

The Russian midfielder is one of the most sought-after players in Europe following two very impressive performances at Euro 2008 against Sweden and the highly-favoured Dutch squad.

New Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola is eager to revamp his squad in the close-season and has reportedly named Arshavin as an ideal piece for his scheme.

However, the Catalan club are not willing to meet Zenit's asking price for Arshavin, having made an offer of €15 million for the player, which fell short of the €25 million valuation set by the UEFA Cup champions.

News daily A BOLA claims that Barcelona have decided to not follow their interest in the 27-year-old after seeing their bid being rejected by the Russian outfit.

Zenit, meanwhile, have released a statement on their official website in which they clarify that "there are currently no negotiations for Arshavin" and that Barcelona were the only club to have made an official approach for the player.

The Russian champions have also denied the latest stories suggesting Arshavin to have flown to London to meet Premier League duo Chelsea and Arsenal.
