The 30-year-old striker began his career with the Belgrade club over a decade ago, starting on a path that saw him call Marbella, Atlético Madrid, RCD Mallorca, Tenereife, and Hannover home.
Most recently he spent two seasons with Getafe (as pictured) before leaving for Rubin Kazan in a short-lived move in 2007. In winter 2008 he returned to Spain with newly-promoted UD Almería.
Here, though, he failed to make too much of an impact, scoring just once in seven substitute Liga appearances. In fact his goal came in his final ever showing in the rojiblanco shirt in a 3-1 away win at Espanyol.
Almería's management were unimpressed by what they saw of the former Serbia & Montenegro international and thus told the ex-Oviedo man that he was free to leave.
Thus although he had two years left on his deal at the Mediterraneo stadium, Paunović took the chance to head for home.
