Jiménez Leaves Out Poulsen

Poulsen is rumoured to have held talks this week with Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain over a potential move to the Catalan giants at the end of the season and it seems likely that his absence on Sunday is a directive passed down from president Jose Maria Del Nido.

Del Nido indicated in an interview on Saturday that he had received no formal approach for Poulsen and that all transfer matters would be discussed once the league season draws to a close. Poulsen going behind Sevilla's back to negotiate with Barcelona therefore seems like a perfectly good reason for his omission from Jiménez's squad.

The club statement announcing the squad for Sunday's game confirmed that Poulsen is not suffering from any injuries and simply stated that he had been left out of the eighteen by "technical decision".

Elsewhere in the Sevilla squad, Julien Escude returns to the selection after a layoff through injury, but fellow centre-back Aquivaldo Mosquera has failed to recover in time and will miss out against Valladolid.

Adriano is serving the second game of his two match ban following his dismissal against Almeria, while Javier Chevanton, Khalid Boulahrouz and Javi Navarro continue their respective recoveries from injury.

Squad: De Sanctis, Palop, Fazio, Daniel Alves, David Prieto, Dragutinovic, Escudé, Keita, Renato, Luis Fabiano, Crespo, Jesús Navas, Capel, Maresca, Kanouté, Koné, Duda, De Mul.
