Numerous local sources proclaimed an hour after the closure of polls that Laporta and his board have weathered the storm of a vote of no confidence.
Despite most of those socios who attended on the day voting against the current regime, not enough turned out to see the board relieved of their duties.
TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio conducted a joint exit poll which, as of 20:00 (an hour before poll closure), had found that only 59.6% voted against Laporta out of their 5,187 sample.
A further 38.9% voted in favour of the president, with 1.5% not responding.
While 59.6% obviously comprises a majority, the club statutes require that fully 66% of those voting select the 'no confidence' option in order for the movement to be valid.
Should this exit poll prove to be correct then Laporta will have weathered the storm, but nonetheless it is thought that having suffered a near-60% defeat in numerical terms will damage the president's reputation.
The official count is underway and should be available this evening.
