In something of a growing trend, Thierry Henry left Arsenal for Barcelona last summer due to reasons thought to be centred more around his personal life and matters off the pitch than the club itself.
He endured a hit-and-miss debut season in Catalonia but has been joined by former Gunner Aliaksandr Hleb as of last week, and with Sylvinho also at the club and the Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit double-signing from many years ago, it almost ceases to be a surprise that they are now monitoring Adebayor as well.
The Blaugrana are poised to offload Samuel Eto'o to usher in a new era, providing they can find an adequate replacement to provide more of a physical presence up front.
Adebayor, almost unknown at this time last year, netted 30 goals in all competitions last season to attract the interest of Milan - whose obsession was ended only by the capture of Ronaldinho for two-thirds of the price - and Barcelona.
"The only thing I can say is that he had an amazing season last year," Henry told Sky Sports News.
"Whenever you have a season like he had a lot of teams are coming to get you.
"It is up to him in his mind. I can't talk for him about what his choice is going to be.
"Arsenal, I don't know how they do it, but they bring players who people say, 'I'm not sure' and suddenly everyone is raving."
Henry added that he hopes the Gunners can end their three-year silverware drought. "Hopefully they can win something because all the time no-one gives them credit, but they are always around," he continued.
"But hopefully this year they can bring some silverware back to the Emirates."
