According to Osasuna’s official website, Stephen Sunday, or Sunny, is expected to undergo his medical check-up on Tuesday before being presented to the media by club president Pachi Izco and sporting director Juanjo Lorenzo.
If all goes as planned, the 19-year-old will then immediately join up with his new team-mates – including the club’s other new arrival, goalkeeper Roberto from Sporting Gijón – to begin the first training session of the new campaign.
The Nigerian-born midfielder had a mixed season with Valencia last term. Despite making 21 appearances and putting in some promising displays, it wasn’t enough to disguise Los Ché’s abysmal form in general. And the club’s massive player clear-out has forced the youngster out of the Mestalla, albeit only on a loan deal.
Under FIFA rules, Sunny is eligible to play for Spain due to his dual citizenship and he has already represented La Selección’s under-19 side, most notably at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada last year.
