Sylvinho: Ronaldinho's Gone? C'est La Vie

The Brazilian said of his countryman, "He's gone? That's life. He's not a Barça player.

"He's a fantastic footballer, but he had to find his path, and Barça theirs.

"He'd played here for four years: it was a pleasure to play alongside him as he showed us all his enormous talent.

"I wish him all the luck in the world."

The veteran stopper, speaking from Barcelona's Scottish training base at Saint Andrews, continued by looking at life under new coach Pep Guardiola.

"It's easy to adapt to Guardiola's methods," he said.

"Work is progressing well. We're happy, even though we must work hard.

"He's putting in a lift of effort and, little by little, we are adapting to his tactics. The team is accepting him well."

"Saint Andrews? It's a pleasure to be back here. This place offers us a calm environment and the work environment is magnificent."

Back And Forward

He continued, "The players are really happy to be working here. What's more, the people here welcome us greatly because they're so passionate about football."

"A distant tour? This year we won't have to travel quite so far, even though many won't deem that decisive. In the past four seasons we've gone to Asia or the Americas - some seasons saw us win titles, others didn't.

"The important thing is that we conduct ourselves well in pre-season, although the fewer kilometers we cover, the better."

With this in mind, he touched on last season.

"Truly, we're a little frustrated at the disappointments of last season," he said.

"We did not expect to finish so many points behind the (Liga) leader, although we did well in the Champions League until the last game.

"This is why we work hard and do our utmost to improve to go on and win titles."
