Barcelona have already been active during this transfer window after clinching Daniel Alves and Seydou Keita from Sevilla, and Martin Caceres from Villareal. However, Aliaksandr Hleb and Andrei Arshavin have been touted as worthy additions to that list.
Discontent has been rife among the Culers (Barca fans) and this is reflected in the 5882 signatures collected by fan Oriol Giralt, the amount required in order to request a motion of censure.
Vicens has warned that if Giralt succeeds with his bid then it is likely the deals for Hleb and Arshavin will fail. He was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “The statutes say that the faculties of the interim board are limited. They are therefore not allowed to buy players or bring them on loan. They can only pay commitments already assumed, but not to assume further commitments.”
He added: “this is not scaremongering, it’s the reality. This would create an inferior management capabilities and is weaker than a board of directors.”
Giralt counters these claims and brands Laporta a liar in the process: “The President of the club lied twice last night. The interim board can perform normal activities.”
This proves quite a stumbling block for Barcelona more ways than one. Because in the event Real Madrid fail in their bid to capture Ronaldo, it is believed they will move for Hleb.
