Atlético Madrid's Johnny Heitinga Unconcerned By Criticism
The Dutch international has at times looked clumsy and tactically unsure, giving away a number of penalties in his six months with Atlético Madrid. However, he has told Marca that he is just the same player he ever was.
"I am the same Heitinga,” he affirmed. “I have had a little bad luck with my knee injury, but I am strong, I am always going to give 100% each match, and I am not going to change."
"I am aware of when I play well and when I do it badly...It does not matter to me when the press criticise or write about me; that is part of football. It did me good to score the other day [against Málaga]. I am well and I wish to continue and give my best for the team."
Heitinga should be fit to play this weekend against Valladolid; a game that Atlético will feel they need to win after two consecutive home defeats this year.
The defender has acknowledged that there is pressure on him but has stated that is because expectations are high at the club.
"There is always pressure from the fans because we have a very good team," he declared.
"We want to finish in the top four, and there is pressure. I have played in the Ajax first team for seven years and there was pressure there too - I am used to it. The Atlético fans support us every game and we are going to give our all."
Heitinga also spoke briefly about his Dutch compatriot Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who he described as a "great forward."
"He has scored many goals in the Dutch league and with the national team. When one signs half-way through a season it is always tough because it is never easy in a new team. But he is a great forward and has a great future," he concluded.

Rafa Benitez Hails Returning Liverpool Stars
After another disappointing draw for Liverpool this week, manager Rafa Benitez is doing his best to stay positive, and feels that there was some good news for the Reds on Wednesday, despite the 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic.
Benitez is pleased that three key players made returns from injury, and feels that they all have big parts to play as Liverpool endeavour to end their long wait for a league title.
"We have some good options now," Benitez told The Liverpool Echo today. We have Skrtel and Mascherano, who have been much better, Agger who is fit again and Torres who is coming back.
"These are good options for us because they are good players who can play at a very good level, and if they are fit we will have a strong squad for the rest of the season.
"Skrtel was a very nice surprise for us because in only his second game back against Everton he was playing at the same level as he was before."
The return to fitness of Argentina's captain Mascherano was highlighted as being of particular significance by Benitez. The midfielder has so far struggled to hit his usual heights this season after returning from the Olympic Games looking jaded.
"Mascherano has shown in every training session that he has commitment, passion and is a good worker. Now, if he is feeling better, it will be a good addition for us," the Spaniard added, before pointing out what the Reds' central aim for the rest of the campiagn was:
"We would like to start winning right now."

Newcastle United After Atlético Madrid's Luis García - Reports
García joined the Spanish side in part of the deal that saw Fernando Torres move to Liverpool, but he has failed to settle into the team, and is not seen as part of Javier Aguirre's plans.
The midfielder has also not been well received by the fans for some of his performances, and Sport reports that Newcastle are ready to sign him this winter.
It has been known that a few English clubs have had their eye on García, but it appears that the Magpies are the last with serious interest, and they could even be willing to use José Enrique in a trade deal.
The defender has been an integral part of the Newcastle side this season, but reportedly they would be willing to part with him if they could bring in midfielder García.
If a deal is to be done it will have to be in the next day or so, and with Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Fulham seemingly out of the race, Newcastle appear to be the only option.
It is thought that the Spaniard wishes to leave the club this winter to try and get some first-team football, something he has not found at Atlético Madrid.

Inter’s Obinna Loaned To Real Betis
It has been well reported in recent times that the La Liga outfit Real Betis are keen to boost their attacking ranks ahead of the second half of the season.
One of their primary targets has been Victor Obinna of Inter Milan, a player that certainly would add a lot of creativity and spark to the Betis attack.
According to Sportsmediaset , both Inter and Betis have reached an agreement for Obinna, with it being decided that he will join the Spanish club for a six month loan period.
The move will see him stay in Spain for the remainder of the season, allowing the Nerazzurri to trim their squad down in the process.
It has also been reported that if both the player and the Spanish club are content at the conclusion of the season, then he can be purchased outright for a fee of €6 million.
Obinna has made eight appearances for the Nerazzurri, since joining the club from Chievo in 2008, where he excelled at from the 2005-06 season.

Exclusive: Indonesia - Hosting World Cup Is Not Impossible
The host of the 2022 World Cup will be announced by FIFA in December 2010- the same time as the 2018 winner.
Qatar and Australia, and possibly China and Japan, will rival Indonesia to become Asia's best contender.
Mr. Nugraha Besoes, Indonesian FA (PSSI) General Secretary, told Goal.com: "We officially registered to host the World Cup in 2022, before the February 2 deadline set by FIFA.
"The rest is up to FIFA, whether or not they see Indonesia worthy of hosting a world tournament."
When asked why the Indonesian FA did this, Nugraha Besoes said because the nation succeeded in hosting the Asian Cup 2007.
"Two years ago, we had no idea that we would be chosen as hosts for Asia's biggest tournament. Nobody believed it.
"It was very surprising but we did it and it became a huge success. That's why it's not impossible for us to host the World Cup."

Raúl Hoping Real Madrid Focus Shifts To The Pitch
Today, Madrid captain, and veteran striker, Raúl, has said that he hopes the attention does shift back to the pitch.
"At the moment, the general public may have a false impression about what Real Madrid is really like on the inside. I hope that this situation improves in the coming months and the attention will be focused on the action on the pitch and not off it. I think it's the least this club deserves," he said at a press conference.
"There are some situations you cannot control and it's clear that, with all that has gone on recently, the image of the club has suffered and we're not happy about that."
However, whilst things have suffered off the pitch, they have improved on it, as Real Madrid look like the only team capable of catching Barcelona.
Their last victory came thanks to a single goal from Raúl, and he admitted today that he didn't score it in the most conventional manner.
"Sometimes you do score some unusual goals. It was a really long ball and I just about got my head to it - it actually hurt a little bit," he mused.
"The others were saying, 'Did you touch it? Did you get your head to it?' and I said 'Yes, yes, look,' and I showed them my ear was red. But at the end of the day, what's important is the three points and maintaining the good run that we're in - one which I hope we can continue."
The goal from Raúl put him to within just one of equaling the record set by Alfredo di Stéfano, and he acknowledged that breaking it will be special.
"Alfredo di Stéfano and I speak regularly, but we've not talked about the subject of our goal records. I don't really think about it, but when the moment comes I'll be sure to savour it, and I'll be thinking of Don Alfredo, because he's a huge symbol for this club," he declared.
"Di Stefano is the president of honour here and he was one of the best players in the world - for many, the best. On a personal note, I will be very proud for my name being close to his in the record books. I aim to keep scoring more goals and I aim to do so for the good of the club. That's what's important to me."

Sampdoria's Bruno Fornaroli To Espanyol Or Betis – Agent
Last week, his agent revealed that he will be leaving during the winter transfer window and has now narrowed his client's destination down to Spain.
"There are two offers from Spain," the player's agent, Vincenzo D'Ippolito, told Barilecce.com . "Specifically, the offers are from Espanyol and Betis. It's probable that he will end up at one of those places."
Fornaroli has just made five appearances in Serie A this season - none as a starter – and has yet to score a goal in Serie A play. The player did grab a brace in the UEFA Cup, when the Blucerchiati thrashed FC Kaunas 5-0.
The Uruguayan youngster has previously been linked with loan moves to Lecce or Chievo, but those clubs opted for Papa Waigo and Stephen Makinwa respectively.

Antonio Hidalgo Looking For Playing Time With Osasuna
The former Málaga man told Marca that he was not getting enough time at the Segunda club, and that he needs to play.
"I want to play and to have minutes that I did not have with Zaragoza, and to enjoy playing again in a position that I am used to," he declared.
The midfielder admitted that he has had offers from various clubs, but has decided to join Osasuna on loan, with just the small print needing to be sorted on the deal.
Hidalgo will join a side who are rock bottom of La Primera at the moment, and who are favourites for relegation. However, he does not seem too fazed by the prospect, stating that he wants to help the club fight.
"Right now the best thing for me is to go to Pamplona and to help Osasuna in every way I can. I expect to be with my team-mates as soon as possible," he asserted.
Hidalgo has started just nine matches for Zaragoza this year and admits that he was frustrated at being played out of position.
"The coach asked me to do things that were not within my style or did not fit my play and each time I had less presence. Now I will go to another place to try and feel as I did six months ago," he said.

Player Ratings: Catania 0-2 Inter
Player Ratings
Catania
Bizzarri -5.5: The goalkeeper had a pretty quiet game. He was helpless with Stankovic's header. He made a couple of decent saves, but he let himself down when he gifted Maicon the chance to make it 2-0.
Silvestri -6.5: Silvestri's game was mixed. He made some decent challenges on Julio Cruz and kept the Argentinean at bay for most of the game. However, his positional sense and ability to deal with crosses was not always great.
Silvestre -6.0: The stopper had a decent game. He worked hard at the back and offered Bizzarri plenty of protection. His interceptions on Ibrahimovic were class and he showed great discipline to stay on his feet rather than dive in.
Stovini -7.5: One of Catania's best players on the night. He was a rock in defence.
Capuano -7.0: Capuano, who is on-loan from Palermo, deserves high praise for the way he made Maicon look silly in the first half. The defender roasted his opposite number as he twisted and turned. Only his finish was lacking. A good contribution overall.
Martinez -6.5: The midfielder was solid and he commanded the park alongside Baiocco. Always on hand to create and break the play. Some of his long-ball passing was outstanding. Would have scored had it not been for Cambiasso's block.
Baiocco -7.5: A contender for man of the match for his flawless first half showing. He did everything right and was unlucky not to have hit the back of the net. The all in one player and performance if there ever was one.
Tedesco -6.5: Tedesco showed all his qualities against the Nerazzurri. He got on with the job and did the simple things effectively. His passing was good from start to finish. He pulled the strings in every sense and was always on hand to fight for the cause.
Morimoto -5.5: The Japanese playmaker drifted in and out of the match. At times his game seemed to stall to idle mode and it got worse as the game went on.
Paolucci -6.5: The former Atalanta hitman did his best on a night when all things seemed to go against him. Especially the referee as he disallowed a perfectly legitimate goal. Always the dangerman, but the his head and performance dipped.
Mascara -7.0: A spirited fight from Mascara and he never gave up until the end. An outstanding display of professionalism. He fought hard for his side and he was at the centre of everything. Attacked, defended, created plenty, but was unable to push his side further.
Subs: Llama 5.5, Spinesi 5.0, D'amico N/A.
Inter
Cesar -6.0: The shot-stopper was called into action a few times and he made sure his side would be protected from any danger as he made some incredible stops. His best was the quick reaction on Tedesco's shot.
Maicon -6.0: Maicon made some good runs down the right, but his final ball was not always worthy of mention. Looked comfortable for most part, but he did have some scares to deal with. In particular Capuano's incredible show of skill.
Cordoba -7.5: Cordoba was one of the best players on the park. He was always in the right place. Got tight on Paolucci to make life hard for the striker. Risked plenty, but it was worth it as he helped his side keep a clean sheet.
Burdisso -7.0: One of Inter's unsung heroes on the night. Burdisso controlled the back line and he pulled out all the stops, especially when his side were under the hammer for the most part.
Santon -6.5: The left-winger was playing his third game of the season and, although he lacks the experience, it did not show one bit. He was always comfortable on the flanks and made some vital clearances in the box.
Zanetti -6.0: The captain had a quiet game. He played in the hole between midfield and defence. He did his job effectively and he worked hard.
Cambiasso -7.5: Cambiasso was outstanding. He was the thorn in Catania's side. The sort of performance which gets under the opposition's noses so much. The Rossoazzurri must have felt like punching him as he was a nuisance to them.
Muntari -5.5: The former Portsmouth midfielder was unfortunate to have been sent off. His lunge on Tedesco was not worthy of a straight red. He was good up until that point.
Stankovic -8.0: Man of the match for the simple reason that he scored one and made one for his side. A great header on five minutes to draw first blood. And then he sealed the near-perfect display with a wonder pass for Ibrahimovic's to score Inter's second.
Cruz -5.5: The Argentinean striker had a mixed game. His assist for Stankovic was, perhaps, his best contribution. Apart from this, he spent most of the game, like a drunk farmer on ale, shooting wildly.
Ibrahimovic -7.5: There is no doubt that Inter are on the next level when this man plays. He was devastating all game. His vision, skill, shooting and passing was of the highest quality. He made Bizzarri look silly with a delightful lob to make it 2-0 and bury the Sicilians.
Subs: Maxwell 5.5, Rivas N/A, Figo 5.5.

Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino To Appear In Court
Corona is an Italian businessman who has been accused of extortion against a number of top celebrities from the sporting world.
ANSA claims the accused will also stand alongside Marco Bonato, who is also alleged to have committed extortion offences against a number of high-profile Italian VIPs.
Gilardino will be in action later tonight as Fiorentina clash with Napoli at the Artemio Franchi, but he will be appearing before judges in a Milanese court on Thursday morning to give evidence in the case.
Corona has already spent time in prison for his involvement in the Valettopoli scandal in 2006, in which he was accused of the same offence.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina will be hoping for maximum points against Napoli as they continue to fight for a Champions League place.

Valencia Always Go Out To Win - Unai Emery
Unai Emery has said today that his Valencia side will go to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to win, and will not play for a draw, despite being without David Villa.
At the weekend, Valencia were humbled by Real Mallorca without their star striker, but Emery assured they will still be playing to win.
"The team always plays to win, sometimes it works out well, sometimes it doesn't. Thescore isgood for us,but Ido not want us to go and try to draw, anotherway is to be intelligent and totry toattack in a more stable way. Everything that you can add to the scoreline is good, and we will be trying to win," he told AS.
"Iexpect a Sevilla sidethat will come out to win, just like us. I expect a very flowing game, that has all the factors to be a good match, a lot of fight and spirit, thatwill be like a final, becausewhoever loses is out. Therefore we will confront it as a final."
Worryingly though, Valencia will yet again be without Villa, and Emery did admit this is a blow to his side.
"Villa is an important player, but not more so than the team. He is not ready to play to his best, and we needeveryone to be in topcondition, so we go with players who are fit," he declared.
The coach also said that he believes his team will turn things around after their defeat to Mallorca at the weekend, and that he doesn't regret letting Nikola Zigic, Timo Hildebrand or Iván Helguera go.
"Each situation has reasons, and a decision must be madeon the day, that iswhat happened in the cases ofHildebrand and Helguera. In the case of Zigic there was possibility of staying,of keepinghim here, but he has always had Villa and [Fernando] Morientes in front. He is a great boy and a great player and I am glad that he is doing well at Racing," he confirmed
Aside from Villa, Emery will have a nearly fully fit squad to choose from for the match, with Joaquín returning after missing the game at the weekend.
Valencia squad to face Sevilla: César, Guaita, Miguel, Maduro, Marchena, Moretti, Carleto, Joaquín, Albelda, Baraja, Fernandes, Edu, Pablo, Vicente, Mata, Silva, Angulo, Morientes.

Barcelona Are The Perfect Team For Me - Dani Alves
When Daniel Alves joined Barcelona from Sevilla last summer, there were some who questioned the hefty price paidby the Catalan side for the player. After all,the Brazilianwas still a youngster, and had not totally proven himself at the back, despite his obvious talents going forward.
Nevertheless, this season, he has been one of the most important players for Barcelona, and today, he told Marca that he always knew it was the perfect club for him.
"[People doubted] where I was going, if my family would be well, ifI would be able to adapt mystyle of play to that of the team. But when Barça arrived, a team that played thefootball like no-one else, even though they were in a bad stage, I had no doubts," he mused
"It was rare to see Barçanot winning anything.I knew thatthis wasthe perfect team for me: I wanted to come to Barcelona and not to any other team."
Certainly Alves andthe rest of his team-mates have impressed this season, and are the current run-away leaders in La Liga.
The defender compared the style of the side to that in the Brazilian national team, which he is also a part of.
"It is a wonder to see the team play,a spectacle, something that I have only seen with the Brazilian national team," he declared.
Along with players like Alves, Barcelona have also been indebted to their new coach, Pep Guardiola, and the Brazilian paid his dues today.
"He treats everyone the same, whether you are new or very good. He has arrived with very positive concepts for a team that wants to win the title," he began.
"That is the key of my adaptation, with some ideas to improve, and alittle more.I feel at home, thanks to the confidence that the coach has given me.
"Ihave seenvery notable improvements.Once one starts learning about team-matesand the coach, you begin to contribute things that at the beginning you did not consider important, but then you realise they are. Above all, I have learned a lot tactically, to play without the ball."
The Brazilian also revealed part of their tactic down the rightside of the pitch, acknowledging that it is all a matter of space.
"If the opponent is alert of Messi of Xavi, I should take advantage of the spaces. We always know how to play with that, with the space that the opponent gives," he concluded.

Atlético Madrid Rubbish Agüero To Real Madrid Deal
20minutos.es reported that former president Ramón Calderón had already agreed a transfer for the Argentine, and that on the day of his resignation, he was phoned by Atlético president, Enrique Cerezo, pleading him not to go for the good of the deal.
However, the Champions League side have rubbished the report, stating in four clear points that they have not even spoken to Madrid about a deal.
The first points reads: "At no point has Atlético Madrid been in contact, either formally or informally, nor much less made an agreement or a contract deal, with Real Madrid, for Sergio Agüero, or for any other player, of the first-team, or any other."
The message continues: "The player has a contract until 2011/2012, and a clause for €60 million. The player has declared on numerous occasions his commitment to the club, and it is the intention of both parties to remain together."
The official statement also dismissed the report as false, and claims that the goal of the club is to achieve their objectives, and they will do that with Agüero.
"It is in the interest of the club to obtain and reach our goals each year, and to see the team finish in the top positions in all competitions, and to do that we include the player mentioned [Agüero]."
The communique from Atlético is also likely to suggest that the other half of the report was false too, which declared that Calderón had agreed a deal for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

La Liga Preview: Málaga – Atlético Madrid
Málaga Moment
Back in late August and early September many people had already classed Málaga as relegation favourites, and perhaps unsurprisingly so given their start to the season. Picking up just one point from their opening four games they certainly did not look like a side who would stay too far clear of the bottom three, let alone challenge for European places, and yet here they are, on the cusp of sixth place.
Having won four of their last five matches, and drawn the other, they have really started to put the pressure on teams such as Atlético Madrid, and somehow, from the thrashing they took earlier in the season, they find themselves level on points. That stat might well owe as much to the ineptitude of the Champions League outfit at times, as it does to the quality of Málaga, but there is no doubt they have been a revelation this season, and a refreshing one too.
Antonio Tapia has got his side playing attacking football, and even when they have played the top teams, they have not taken their foot off the gas. Take for example their battle at the Bernabéu against Real Madrid, where they just lost out to the defending La Liga champions 4-3, or their win over Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuá, arguably their most impressive victory to date. Whether or not their attacking tactics will play into the hands of Atlético this weekend is not clear, but whatever the case, the away side know they have a tricky task on their hands.
Miserable Year
Whilst Málaga have been impressive this year, Atlético have been anything but, failing to win a match in either the Copa Del Rey or La Liga so far. Their draw against Almería last weekend might not have been the worst result on paper, but considering they squandered numerous chances and were playing against ten men for much of the match, they will feel frustrated.
Indeed, Sergio Agüero could not hide his anger after the match, saying that the team needs to work harder and that the result was not good enough. Whilst that was written off as heat of the moment material by the rest of the squad later, there is no doubt that Atlético do need to improve, and quickly. Even a win this weekend would not see them move back into the top four, and worryingly, bearing in mind their poor form, they must face their direct rivals in less than a month.
If they cannot manage to beat Málaga this weekend and win their next two or three matches then by the time they face Sevilla, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal, fourth spot could already be a distant dream. They will be hoping that they can repeat the performance which saw them destroy the island side on the first day, but there is no doubt this will not be easy.

TEAM NEWS
Málaga
Málaga will be without in-form striker Adrián after he suffered an injury in the victory over Espanyol last week.
That could well mean a start for Albert Luque up front, or for Salva, who has struggled to find playing time this season but is now fit.
Probable Line-Up (4-2-3-1): Goitia – Gaspar, Rosario, Cuadrado, Calleja – Lolo, Apoño – Eliseu, Baha, Duda - Luque
Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid will be without Éver Banega after he was sent off against Almería last weekend and worryingly, Maxi Rodríguez is still a doubt.
That could mean that Florent Simana-Pongolle starts on the right flank again, whilst Mariano Pernía is a doubt, and could be replaced by Antonio López.
Probable Line-Up (4-4-2) : Leo Franco – López, Ujfalusi, Heitinga, Seitaridis – Simao, Maniche, Assuncao, Sinama-Pongolle – Forlán, Agüero
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Málaga
Eliseu has played nearly every game for Málaga this season and he has been a key figure in his attacking role, usually playing as a second-striker. The Portuguese player has scored five times in the league and has got plenty of assists to his name as well. Against Atlético the coach will be hoping that he can control the ball in the final third and pick out the passes to unlock the defence.
Atlético Madrid
After the draw with Almería last weekend Sergio Agüero made no secret of his frustration and Javier Aguirre will be hoping for a reaction from the Argentine this week. Against an attacking Málaga side he could well get space on the counter-attack and unlike last week he will have to take his chances when they come.
PREDICTION
Yet again it’s must win time for Atlético Madrid and should they fail to win this match they could find themselves out of the European places altogether. The home side are on a good run of form but with both teams looking to attack the class of the visiting forwards could take all three points back to the Spanish capital.

Guardiola: Barcelona Will Not Trounce Numancia
Los Pajaritos are the only team to have beaten the Blaugrana in the league this term, but few expect them to complete the double when the second half of the campaign starts this weekend.
All the talk around Camp Nou is about how Barça should easily defeat Sergio Kresic's side and avenge that opening embarrassment, but Guardiola has played down those expectations.
“We are not going to see a big win,” he told reporters after training on Friday.
“I want people to stop thinking that will happen. It will be a hard fought game and if do not play well and find our rhythm then it could cost us.
"If we win then it will be late on after a lot of hard work. I really want to win and to take a step forward against a good team.”
“The feeling is that we already have the three points in the bag and there is a real possibility that the same thing could happen again that happened in the first game if we think like that.”
Guardiola did not want any talk of revenge either. “That can distract you from the job in hand,” he added.
Numancia gained promotion to the top flight at the end of last season and many expected them to go straight back down, but they are more than holding their own among the big boys.
“I think that Numancia deserve a great deal of respect for what they have achieved,” Guardiola conitnued.
“They have done well, like against Sevilla when they were well-organised daring and did not feel any pressure. Sergio Kresic is one of the best trainers defensively.”

Robert Pirés Has Faith In Osasuna Referee
The French forward is confident that matchday official Jose Luis Paradas Romero will be fair when Villarreal meet the Pamplona-based outfit on Saturday in El Madrigal.
Osasuna were at the centre of two highly controversial decisions against Madrid as Juanfran was sent off for two alleged dives. The overwhelming majority of observers have since agreed that both looked like fouls in the area.
"We know that the referees are under a lot of pressure," Pirés told reporters.
"I do not think that what happened in the Bernabéu will affect us in Saturday's game because the referees know what they have to do."
Osasuna are bottom of the table and Pirés is expecting them to head to Villarreal looking to play with a packed defence and one up front.
"It is difficult to play against teams who come only to pick up a point;" he continued. "I am sure that they are going to play on the counter-attack, as they did last week against Real Madrid.
"We must take care with these types of games if we want to be at the top of the table."

Berlusconi: Keeping Kakà Was Like Winning The Champions League
Kakà was at the centre of a lengthy transfer saga until the start of this week, with English club Manchester City reportedly offering a whopping €120 million to capture Brazilian ace.
But the 26-year-old ultimately opted to remain in Lombardy. Diavoli President and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi personally gave the announcement on a live TV show.
“Keeping hold of him was like winning another Champions League,” the media mogul told QN . “I am happy and proud of Milan, because I truly feel that we are the only side in the world where something like this could happen."
New City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is eager to throw his financial weight around to help the club rival the best teams in the world, however, he is still smarting from Kakà’s choice to reject his big-money offer.
“The Sheikh is doing a great job in order to build a competitive side that can play a major role both in the Premier League and on the European stage,” maintained Berlusconi.
“He will certainly turn Man City into a big European force over the next few years and I wish him good luck, because he deserves it.
“But he knows full well that I’m in charge of Milan. We gave Kakà carte blanche to decide, but I am happy at his decision. I feel the Sheikh would have done the same thing.”
Spanish champions Real Madrid are apparently ready to launch a new assault on Kakà next summer, however, Berlusconi believes it will be to no avail.
“Ricardo and Milan have already rebuffed the Spaniards once, and I don’t see why we should change our stance," he declared. "Kakà has given a clear proof of his bond with us and will not seek a wage increase,” he concluded.

Serie A Preview: Juventus - Fiorentina

Juventus are flying high heading into the biggest game of week 20. All eyes will be on the Binconeri this Saturday night as Fiorentina come to town. With just three points separating Juve and Inter at the top of the table, this game will represent a stern test for Claudio Ranieri's men. Anything less than a win could derail their titles hopes as Inter have what should be a home banker on Sunday against Sampdoria. The reverse fixture between between Juve and Fiorentina earlier in the season ended in a 1-1 draw in Florence.
There are no room for errors this weekend for the Bianconeri. Their 1-1 draw against Lazio last week was not a bad result, it would have been had Inter won their game against Atalanta. Ranieri's men are in stunning form. They are unbeaten in their last six Serie A matches, their last loss came against the league leaders.
Confidence is high in Vinovo. All the talk this week has been about catching their bitter rivals at the top. Leading goalscorer Amauri has been the first to remind everyone the gap is only three points. “We must not give up. We have to keep on working well as we want to become the queen of Italy once again. The gap is only three points,” Amauri told Juventus Channel.
Juve's record against Fiorentina is not at all perfect. Many will remember the 3-2 home loss to Cesare Prandelli's men last season. In the last six fixtures between these two teams, the statistics make for some even reading. Juventus have won once as have Fiorentina, the other four fixtures have all ended in draws. The Bianconeri have not beaten the Tuscan side since December 2005 when they won 2-1 away from home.
Ranieri will be hoping things change this weekend. The players have been working hard this week and a number of stars have returned from injury. It's a massive game for Vecchia Signora and the result of this match will help provide a clearer view in the Scudetto crystal ball.
Purple Pain
Fiorentina are still feeling the pain of two back-two-back defeats heading into the Juve clash, and thus Prandelli's side will be all fired up and ready to repeat their match-winning performance in this fixture last year. After three wins on the bounce against Torino, Catania and Sampdoria, the Viola got back into their old habits of stepping off the gas when all was going well.
They were punished by Lecce in a shock 2-1 home defeat and then they lost against Milan last week. Alexandre Pato's goal sealed the Tuscan's fate. The team's turbulent form over the past few weeks has seen them touch and then let go of the all important fourth place. Champions League football for next season is the club's ultimate aim. It is the main reason as to why Fiorentina spent big in the summer transfer market.
However, nothing much has changed since last term on the pitch. Prandelli's squad is sublime, but new faces such as Stevan Jovetic, and Juan Manuel Vargas have failed to shine this term. Only Felipe Melo and Alberto Gilardino have repaid some of the investment Pantaleo Corvino made for them. The former Milan striker has a habit of doing well against Juventus. It was his striker earlier this season which denied the Bianconeri maximum points at the Artemio Franchi.
The Italian international is also looking to end the season as Capocanoniere and, after last week's failure to get on the score sheet, Gila will be up for this one. However, the Viola's away form has been poor this term. They have lost six and won four in ten fixtures on the road. Their average goal count away from home this season stands at 1.1 goals per game. It's not looking good given the fact that Juventus have the best defensive record in the league.
Ranieri's men have conceded just 14 goals in 19 matches and so it will tough going for Gilardino and company.

Team News
Juventus
There has been good news from the Juventus infirmary this week as Vincenzo Iaquinta and Olof Mellberg have returned to action. The Swedish star shook off the flu while Iaquinta has recovered from a muscular problem. Gianluigi Buffon and Alex Manninger have also shaken off the flu and they should be available for the game. Tiago, Giorgio Chiellini and Mauro Camoranesi are all doubtful. Jonathan Zebina has returned to the training pitch, but he is unlikely to be fit. David Trezeguet's recovery is progressing well. Momo Sissoko is suspended following the yellow card he picked up against Lazio.
Probable Starting XI 4-4-2: Buffon, Grygera, Mellberg, Legrottaglie, De Ceglie, Marchionni, Marchisio, Zanetti, Nedved, Del Piero, Amauri.
Fiorentina
The bad news for Fiorentina is that Adrian Mutu will miss the game as he still has not recovered from a dislocated elbow. The Romanian star underwent further tests on Thursday and he has been told to rest for at least 10 days by the club's medical staff. This means he is likely to miss the Napolu clash next week as well. Martin Jorgensen is the only other absentee while Gianluca Comotto is suspended.
Probable Starting XI 4-3-1-2: Frey, Zauri, Kroldrup, Gamberini, Vargas, Kuzmanovic, Felipe Melo, Montolivo, Santana, Gilardino, Jovetic.
Players To Watch
Juventus: Alessandro Del Piero. Keep an eye out on the Juventus captain. Del Piero has a habit of doing well against Fiorentina. He scored his first goal in this fixture back in 1994. Claudio Marchisio, who starts on Saturday, was only eight years old back then and he watched it from the stands. Del Piero has been in hot form recently and he will be hoping to do the business.
Fiorentina: Alberto Gilardino. The Italian striker is back in the form of his life under Prandelli. He has scored 11 times this term and he is itching to make it 12 against Juventus. Gila scored his first Serie A goal for the Viola against Juve back in September so all eyes will be on him at the Olimpico.
Prediction
Juventus against Fiorentina is always a special game. Expect some exciting end to end stuff with plenty of chances at both ends. The rivalry will be fierce and it will take something special to settle the game. Juventus will fancy their chances, but Fiorentina are no pushovers.
Juventus 2-0 Fiorentina

Nedved To Join Third Division Club?
Pavel Nedved's future at Juventus is looking increasingly uncertain, but his playing days could go on as Lega Pro Prima Divisione (Italy's third division) side SS Virtus Lanciano have offered the former Lazio man the chance to play on.
The club, who are based in the small town of Lanciano near Chieti in the Abruzzo region are flying high in their league, and they want the experience to help push with their aims of promotion into the higher divisions.
Lanciano president Valentina Maio has opened the door to Nedved as she tries to tempt him with her charms, rather than a mega wage deal.
"If Nedved wants to retire from the big stage then he will be welcome here at Lanciano," said the chief.
"He is an important player and he has the qualities to play on for longer like Paolo Maldini."
Nedved could take up the offer as his deal with Juve expires in June and the club have not moved in fast enough to offer him an extension. Reports have suggested a pay-as-you-play deal, but the midfielder's agent declared he would not accept it.

Juventus To Hold Talks With Werder Bremen Ace Diego - Reports
Juventus are in pole position to sign Werder Bremen star Diego, despite interest from Manchester City and Barcelona.
The Bianconeri are keen on the Brazilian midfielder, who is being tipped as Pavel Nedved's replacement. Coach Claudio Ranieri revealed his liking for the player on Thursday when he told the media that Juve were looking at him.
The move is now beginning to take shape as Tuttosport claims Diego's father and agent Djair Ribas will be flying to Turin within the next few days to hold some crunch talks with the Bianconeri.
Alessio Secco will be busy but, with the January transfer window coming towards an end, any chance of sealing the deal soon is unlikely. The process of bringing Diego to Italy will be long and dragged out. Juve have been after the player for over a year and they will have to wait until the end of the season in order to land their man.
As well as trying to convince Diego and his father, the Bianconeri have the mammoth task of swaying directors at the German club to part company with their key man. Reports suggest Secco will meet with the German club's directors in February when Werder Bremen come to Italy to play Milan in the UEFA Cup last 16 stage.
The Old Lady will need to move in quickly to avoid missing out as Manchester City are believed to be interested in the diminutive star after missing out on Kaka.

PSG Offer Mateja Kezman To Espanyol - Report
The Blanc i Blau trainer held a board meeting this week to tell the club that signing a goalscorer was the priority as Raúl Tamudo remains sidelined, according to Sport.
Having scored just 17 goals in 19 matches, Pochettino has pinpointed that as the first area that he wants to improve upon and is deciding which player he thinks will improve his squad.
Kezman has reportedly been offered to Espanyol after allegedly falling out with PSG boss Paul Le Guen, but his record of just one goal this term for the French outfit may go against him.
Espanyol had been eyeing Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, but he joined Bologna instead, while Ernesto Farías and Felipe Caicedo were also on the club's list but both are out of the reach of Pochettino.
The Barcelona-based club's trainer has been in meetings with sporting director Paco Herrera and other members of the board, including Germán de la Cruz.
"We will try to satisfy the coach with his demands," De la Cruz explained. "He has faith in his current squad, but he has asked us for a striker.
"We have been working on this and while we have been frustrated in some areas, we are trying very hard to produce something."

Goal.com Poll Results: Bring Back Florentino Perez, Real Madrid!
It would signal a remarkable comeback for the architect of the Galactico era - one who at the time seemed to be somewhat discredited.
Despite his chequered past, it seems that Goal.com readers would love to see him return to the Santiago Bernabeu. The results of the vote for his comeback:
Yes: 71%
No: 29%
We also took this issue to our Real Madrid forums to gather some more opinions and ideas.
User 'strugarock' said:
"I guess Perez would be a good choice if he brings Zizou as a Sporting Manager or as a youth team coach and bring the best staff there with football sense. We all know the mistakes that he made during the Galactico, fired del Bosque, sold Makelele and bought Becks(won nothing with Real Madrid just La Liga in 2006-07). Or better yet would be a president with football background or a Real Madrid legend."
But 'blanco10' argued:
"Everybody associates Florentino Perez with the Galacticos era, well I have my own opinion on that, from what I remember "Los Galacticos" accolade was given by the media and for the team this was more of a curse than a bless anyway while the media put pressure on the team,me and many fans saw the best team in the world playing a wonderful game, how can everybody remember only that Claude Makelele was sold and that for Vicente del Bosque the standards were set too high for anyone to acomplish.I won't argue that this wasn't the wrong thing but I will argue that when Florentino Perez was president I saw a dream come true and I think that it was also the presidents dream to see a team that brought joy in every supporters heart.Santiago Bernabeu was a man with a dream,he put the foundation to the greatest football club in the world. It's very hard if not impossible to do something as genial and beautiful like Santiago Bernabeu did. When I associate the names of Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane one thing comes in my mind...Santiago Bernabeu and Alfredo di Stefano.Hala Madrid!!!"
'punkfusion1992' could not have disagreed more:
"He is incompetent, a narcissist, egotistic loser who caused one of the biggest problems in our clubs history. Calderon did a great job. He erased most of those memories. He brought team work and titles. Since he was succeeding in the title department, Marca and Fiorentino Perez couldnt stand it. Perez is behind all this if u must know. Since he wanted to be president again he used Marca(his Buddies) to manipulate some load of **bleep** that he himself organised. So he is not at all honourable, Calderon is more honourable and was a million times the better president. Perez is a coward and should never come back. Boluda is doing a good job. But I do sincierly hope that Manuel Sanchiz to become the president. He is a legend. He is the pre-form of Maldini at Madrid and will do a great job. He will bring the quinta back to madrid."

Calcio Debate: The Myth About Italian Football
There is no entertainment, no thrill, no romance, no technique, no attack, no midfield, no pace, no skills, no dribbling. The players are all old, it is a retirement home. Serie A is crap.
Right, eh?
Absolutely wrong.
To denote Serie A as quintessentially boring and dull is perhaps the biggest misconception after a certain president of a certain nation thought that going to war in the 21st century in Asia would be warmly welcomed by the world. It is a myth that ranks higher than the insane belief that all men who read Namaz and have beards are terrorists.
True, Italian football domestically might lack the often overwhelming aggression and pace of the Premier League and the refined finesse of La Liga but it has characteristics of its own. It has the romance, as exhibited by the Derby della Madonnina , the Derby d’Italia and the Derby di Sicilia ; it has the odd surprise package (earlier Chiveo Verona and now a certain club in Naples), the passion, the spirit and the players. Serie A has a distinct flavour, with tactics and strategies given more importance than in most other leagues in Europe, while teams play with a unique intelligence and shrewdness.
Take Napoli for example. A very young side that after six years away gained promotion to the Italian top flight only at the end of the 2006/07 season, and immediately finished in an astonishing eighth place. They have since gone a few steps further and at the moment are in a not so improbable position to play in next season’s UEFA Champions League. This term they have been playing marvellous football, keeping the ball on the ground, passing it around, using the flanks as well as penetrating opposition defences.
In fact, it is their style and creativity, combined with energy, that has seen them beat Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina at home, as well as draw away at Roma. Napoli are a side that play football the way it is meant to be played. The likes of Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Fabiano Santacroce and Walter Gargano are superb talents who have the technique and the requisite skills to play for any of the superpowers.
Then of course there is Juventus. Granted, under Fabio Capello, the archetypal of Italian tacticians whom Real Madrid twice signed to twice win La Liga the ‘ugly’ way - the Old Lady were not a very attacking side but under ‘Tinkerman’ Claudio Ranieri this season, Juventus' game has become enjoyable again. Alessandro Del Piero is still one of the top players in Europe, and when you consider that he is 34 years of age and was regarded a spent force not so long ago, you certainly get the picture.
Then there is Francesco Totti’s Roma, Italy’s answer (well, sort of) to Arsenal in the sense that they tend to play glorious football in an almost naïve fashion. The Giallorossi have been churning out the most entertaining football in Serie A for the past two or three seasons but, like Arsenal, certain mitigating factors have stunted their growth. This season they have been sick but, still, Luciano Spalletti has remained true to the philosophy of playing attacking football.
While Inter, under Jose Mourinho, tend not to be very adventurous and are at times grimly effective and clinical without the slightest touch of romance, their city rivals Milan have always stuck to eye-catching football.
Indeed when they lost the final of the Champions League in 2005, they did so not so much for Steven Gerrard’s heroics for Liverpool (or his penalty dive) as for coach Carlo Ancelotti, who due to the wishes of club supremo Silvio Berlusconi, didn't shut up shop after they had gone 3-0 up, continuing to play further up the field. Indeed there was a rueful feeling that Liverpool had staged that dramatic comeback because Milan had allowed them to. And when the Rossoneri won the European Cup in 2006-2007, they were clearly the most enjoyable side in the competition.
But to judge a league based on its top four or five sides is to judge a woman by her looks. Down the table in Serie A, the teams might not be very attractive commercially but they do not really fit into the abnormally normal fallacy that they play with nine men behind the ball.
For example, a fortnight ago when Reggina hosted Lazio at the Stadio Oreste Granillo, one would have anticipated an away win. After all, the Amaranto were near the foot of the table and heavily tipped for the drop. But astonishingly for a side of their meagre resources, Reggina played a slick passing game, and did not hoof the ball up in the air and play route-one football. The Calabrians almost earned what would have been a deserved point, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat, thereby revealing that there is quite some depth in the lower rung teams.
And then this past weekend, leaders Inter were not so much beaten as utterly humiliated 3-1 by an Atalanta side stuck in mid-table, thereby vividly attesting the team’s propensity to take the game to the bigger sides. And the Orobici didn't win it by the Catennacio system either, continuing to attack at 3-0, when prudence and pragmatism would have sufficed.
One must also not forget about Genoa (currently in fourth place), Fiorentina, Udinese and Lazio, all of whom field attacking 4-3-3 formations, and regularly demonstrate the Brazil-like mentality of “if we concede two, we'll score three”. How many teams in the English Premier League, “the best league in the world”, play with three-men strike-forces? These Italian sides all boast prodigious talents too in Diego Milito (Genoa), Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina), Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), and of course the mercurial Mauro Zarate (Lazio).
Admittedly, there are problems in the game in Italy. Racism occasionally rears its ugly head, not all the stadiums are modern or filled, there is constant controversy, referees can be erratic at times, and the fans can and do misbehave. Perhaps, until and unless Italian football is purged of these menaces it will always be looked down upon.
But these problems shouldn't really dictate how one perceives a league's footballing style. Since the turn of the century, Calcio’s image has taken a dip towards the south and even those who hardly watch any Serie A matches tend to be brainwashed into the media perception that it is “boring, slow and crap”.
Which leads you to wonder when football lovers will wake up and realize that Italian football is not as it is commonly made out to be. When will the emperor realize that he has been duped and that instead of wearing some fancy clothes, he is starkly naked.
What are your views on this topic? Is there an ongoing myth about Italian football? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think…

Manel Estiarte: Messi Is Great Because Ronaldino Left
The former water polo star is currently employed as the Blaugrana's director of external relations and he told La Gazzetta dello Sport why he feels the club has a new hero.
Coach Josep Guardiola sanctioned Ronaldinho's move to Milan as one of his first jobs and Estiarte believes that it was so Messi could step out of his shadow and shine.
"He is the best in the world and is, I believe, our leader. He is playing very well now because Ronaldinho has moved to Milan," the director explained.
"Guardiola pushed through his move because he knew it was the time to free Messi from his shadow.
"Messi is the best player in the world and, therefore, had to be the best at Barcelona.
"He is having a marvellous season and away from the pitch he has to be protected because he is still very young and needs to be surrounded by his family."
Estiarte and Guardiola have a close relationship and the former Pescara and Savona water polo star thinks that the new Barça coach's attention to detail has been the key to his early success.
"He is the main reason that I am with FC Barceona. We are great friends," Estiarte continued "He requires complete focus. There is to be no commercial activity 48 hours before a game, he controls the diets and many other things.
"Many of these things will become easier to control following the change of training venue to the Cuitat Esportiva this week. He has been in control of organising that."

Jose Altafini: Kaka Is Under Same Pressure As Cristiano Ronaldo Is
Former Milan striker Jose Altafini believes Brazilian ace Kaka is facing the same "pressure and torment" as Cristiano Ronaldo regarding interest from Real Madrid.
The Rossoneri star rejected the chance to join Manchester City in a lucrative deal last week. The move set the Spanish media on a crusade, launching a 'Kaka to Real Madrid campaign' with constant reports suggesting the Brazilian will join them in the summer.
Alatafini, who played over 200 games for Milan between 1958 and 1965, has given his views on the Kaka nightmare, comparing it to Cristiano Ronaldo's Real turmoil.
"This Real Madrid situation will torment Kaka from now until June," Altafini told Sky Sport Italia.
"There is all this talk about him going there if Florentino Perez comes in, but I hope it doesn't happen.
"Kaka is feeling the same pressures as Cristiano Ronaldo because, at this point, Real will have to look at their situation and decided who to go for: Kaka or Roanaldo."
Another Brazilian who has been making recent headlines in Italy is Adriano. The Inter striker is working hard to get back to his best. The Nerazzurri have come under heavy fire for their management of Adriano, but Altafini doesn't believe it's the club's or Jose Mourinho's fault.
"I think the situation got to a bad point," he said. "But, to be honest, the blame should not be piled on Inter or on their coach because they did everything to help him, however, he didn't want to know," added the former striker.
"He is getting back into shape now, and I think he will do well if recovers his form."

Domenech Launches Stinging Attack On 'Farcical' Mourinho
France coach Raymond Domenech has launched a sensational attack on Inter coach Jose Mourinho as he picks another fight and pours more scorn on the Italian game.
Domenech will be best remembered in Italy for his post World Cup outburst after the Azzurri won the FIFA trophy in 2006. Since then, the French coach has kept on taking aim at various figures. He has now, perhaps, picked on the wrong person as he tries to shoot down Mourinho.
"Mourinho is like the British tabloids, his best strength is to provoke everything and everyone, and he doesn't even care about himself anymore," Domenech told Sport.
"There are always farcical situations when Mourinho is around."
Domenech chose the worst week to launch an attack on the 'Special One'. The former Chelsea coach has been furious this week after his side's loss to Atalanta on Sunday, as well as angry with reportsclaiming he lost his temper with his side.
Mourinho has already been involved in various spats this season withJuventus coach Claudio Ranieri, CataniaCalcio and Italian journalists.

Villar Mir: Real Madrid Must Hold Elections Now
While question marks still surround Ramón Calderón's victory in 2006 as the postal vote was never counted, the man that finished second could consider another run for the top spot this time.
After being backed by Florentino Pérez three years ago, this time Villar Mir maybe up against his good friend although he will have his own ideas.
"I have not decided on my position yet, but when the time comes I will," he told Radio Marca.
"I think that Real Madrid should hold elections as soon as possible. The club needs complete stability and it has to be done quickly.
"Florentino and I are friends, but we are different people.
"I consider myself to be the moral-winner of the last elections, although the counting of the absentee ballot has never been done."
Calderón resigned recently after a voting scandal at the club's general assembly and an interim board has been installed until elections take place in summer.

Álvarez Pleased With Real Madrid Start
Los Merengues assistant head coach would have liked to have had pre-season to prepare the squad, but without that he has had to start work and help the boss change things midway through.
Ramos has steadied the ship at the Bernabéu on the pitch and Álvarez believes that a lot of the hard work was done by the players who were keen to change their fortunes.
“When you join a team and don't have a pre-season to work with, you need time to adapt so that the team gets accustomed to way of playing football as quickly as possible," he told the club's official website.
“Training methods, players' willingness to improve daily, the ability to understand where the coach is coming from... it all plays a part.
“I was impressed with the players ethic and willingness to work; they never give up. In fact, they want more.
“They are very ambitious, and that's exactly what a team like Real Madrid needs. When a player gets here it's because he is one of the best in the world technically and physically.
“We have 24 players and each one of them has to be in the best shape possible throughout most of the season.
“There are moments when, due to extenuating circumstances, some players perform better than others, and that's what we have to try to balance out.
Álvarez thinks that Madrid's elimination from the Copa del Rey has been a blessing so that the players can work without having to play every midweek during January.
"Having a daily workout for two months straight without any kind of midweek competition has allowed us to make good progress," he continued.
"Players will adjust to the demands we place on them and they will be in great shape when we play the first game of the last 16 [of the Champions League].”
“We have spent the last four weeks doing intense, high volume work. We are now at a point where all that we have worked on will allow players to feel less of a burden on their legs. They will be faster, more agile and more resistant.”

Liverpool Midfielder Alonso Wants First Wembley Date
Alonso has fond memories of the competition, having won it in 2006 at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium, but wants to get to the final again this season because it would be his first Wembley date.
"I've never played at Wembley. Hopefully I can do that with Liverpool," he explained in LFC magazine.
"I would like to have played at the old Wembley before it was knocked down. For me, it looked like a stadium with a lot of charm. It always looked really special. Whenever I watched a game there it looked like a great place to play football.
"It would have been great to say I had played there but instead I am now looking forward to playing at the new Wembley. It also looks really good."
Liverpool have contested some of the most thrilling finals in recent years, including the 3-3 penalty shoot-out over West Ham in the FA Cupl in 2006 and the overturning of Milan in the Champions League in 2005.
"It is great that I can say I have won the FA Cup. It is a very important trophy in England and is known across Europe.
"But in terms of my achievements so far, I would probably have to put the Champions League win up there first.
"I hadn't won anything before I came to Liverpool. I came second in the league with Real Sociedad but never actually won a trophy.
"This is one of the reasons that the first one was really special - the Champions League final in Istanbul."
Liverpool host Everton in the FA Cup on Sunday, the game kicks off at 16:00 GMT.

Calderón Has No Honour - Ex-Real Madrid VP
Fernando Fernández Tapias was one of Florentino Pérez's right-hand men and has been left astonished at the turn of events that led to the most recent scandal at the Bernabéu.
Calderón was forced to quit as president after Marca proved that he had rigged the club's general assembly by placing non-members in the auditorium to vote in his favour.
"Ramón Calderón has no honour," Fernández Tapias told Radio Marca. "When being part of any institution, you have to be there to serve it and not to serve yourself from it."
What shocked the ex-director most were photos of Calderón in a Madrid nightclub with people that had been part of the scandal following his resignation.
"The photos are outrageous and insulting to the members of Real Madrid. It is inadmissible," he added.
Elections to find the next president are set to be held at the end of the current season, but Fernández Tapias wants them to happen even sooner.
"We need elections as soon as possible and also to hold the assembly again. These things must be done very quickly," he stated.
"If Florentino goes in then I may go with him, but nothing has yet been decided."

Jose Mourinho Considering Defamation Claim Over Atalanta Outburst - Report
Furious Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho is considering making a claim for defamation after Italian newspapers published comments that the former Chelsea boss allegedly made during a dressing room outburst.
On Thursday La Repubblica and La Stampa published transcripts that were attributed to Mourinho, containing the words that he allegedly used after the 3-1 loss to Atalanta on Sunday.
Reports claim the coach called his players "a pile of s**t." and that they were not worthy of winning their last three Scudetti.
Tuttosport now claims that bothclub and coach areconsidering taking legal action against those papers for defamation.Reports suggest Mourinho has already consulted his legal team and they are looking into the matter to see whether or not he has a case to make a claim.
Inter fans are furious after Mourinho's dressing room words; Juventus fans, on the other hand, have taken delight in seeing the club in turmoil.

Milan Star Kakà: I’m Flattered By Real Madrid Interest
Milan superstar Kakà turned down a lucrative move to Premier League big-spenders Manchester City at the start of the week, despite the Rossoneri allegedly agreeing a record-breaking fee of €120 million to part company with their prized asset.
However, the rumour mill has soon set off again and Spanish media are adamant that the 22-year-old’s ardent desire to join Primera División champions Real Madrid was behind his decision to rebuff City.
A journalist for newspaper AS approached Kakà yesterday after he returned home from training, and the Rossoneri No. 22 briefly commented on the rumours linking him with los Merengues.
“It is obviously pleasing to know that big clubs such as Real or Chelsea are interested in me,” AS quotes him as having said.
“I did not speak out over the past few days, because I feel a lot of pressure and things are still tense. I prefer to remain calm, as newspapers say I am a Real player one day, and a Chelsea one the day after.”

Report: Liverpool Want Everton Target Hugo Almeida
The Toffees had been linked with making an initial loan move for the 14-time-capped Portugal international striker with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
But it is now thought that Liverpool are interested in luring the 24-year-old 6ft 3in forward to Anfield during this transfer window in order to reinforce manager Rafa Benitez's options in attack as they go in search of the Premier League title.
The former Porto star has not been prolific in front of goal, scoring just twice in 12 Bundesliga fixtures this season, but it seems that he is in high-demand nevertheless.
Should he opt to sign for the Reds, it is claimed that Everton manager David Moyes could make a move for Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen, although the Icelander's agent recently rules out a switch to Blackburn Rovers insisting he will see out the remainder of the season with La Blaugrana .

Advantage Mallorca After Real Betis Victory
Mallorca stand on the verge of the Copa del Rey semi-finals after taking a first leg advantage from their victory against Real Betis. The Beticos will complain that they had a goal disallowed - a matter of much contention - but the result stands at 1-0.
The hosts had the best of the opening ten minutes, but the finest chance of the opening stages fell to Achille Emana on the 18 minute mark. The Cameroonian - from whom the word "audacious is never far" attempted an incredible midfield lob to shock Dudu Aouate, and wasn't far away from finding the target.
In fact Betis were to take the lead - or so they thought. On the half hour mark Damia Abella seemed to have played Xisco - who had lost his marker - through on goal for a valid one-on-one. The forward repaid the wide man with a lovely chip over Dudu Aouate, but he was ruled offside by Alvarez Izquierdo - a debatable decision that perhaps only a video can sort out.
Mallorca always had a little touch of danger about them through Alhassane Keita, but the half ended with the ever-impressive Damia having a sniff on goal.
Five minutes after the break Xisco came inches away from opening the scoring after being put through by Juanma, but Mallorca's Castro came even closer after getting the better of Monzon and almost converting Varela's cross.
When the opening goal came, though, it was down to a defensive error. With Melli completely asleep, Keita was able to dribble the ball past the back line and beat Aouate.
The game died down after this, and the last chance fell to Keita right at the death, but Mallorca had already done enough.

Sporting came away from San Mames with every chance of progression to the next round of the Copa del Rey after a 0-0 away draw with Athletic Bilbao in their first leg encounter.
The match started slowly, but it was clear even from the early stages that Joaquin Caparros' men, who are so publicly eager to progress, were not "at home" at home.
Still, Sporting had signs of frustration and carelessness as Omar picked up a 10th minute booking for a late challenge on Pablo Orbaiz; the visitors, too, almost suffered 10 minutes later as Fernando Llorente headed wide from Andoni Iraola's cross.
Right down the other end, though, David Barral saw his shot only just float past the post of Gorka Iraizoz, and when Jose Angel oh-so-nearly scored with a free-kick seconds later the hosts were on the ropes.
Nonetheless Athletic had a superb chance to take the lead after Neru was judged to foul Llorente in the box; the defender protested, but he needn't have bothered after Llorente blasted the penalty wide nd to to the left.
Omar set up Lora for a fine opportunity that brought out the best in Iraizoz soon afterwards, and in fact Sporting were to end the first period with an array of chances going their way.
Heading into the second half, though, Javi Martinez so nearly opened the scoring with a header, and Athletic's claims to victory were once again real.
But it was end-to-end stuff for the most part; as soon as Sastre came close at one end, Lora was forced to clear off the line from Llorent at the other.
As the game progressed Athletic began to run short on ideas, while Sporting used the channels well to avoid the physical Lions' midfield line.
But for all their crosses there were very few chances; and in fact the active Llorente was to have the last chance as he forced a save from Sergio Sanchez right at the death.
0-0 it ended, and although Sporting had the better chances it was a fair result, and one that will strike Athletic as an opportunity missed... not just from the penalty spot, either.

Laporta Defends Eto'o After Training Ground Incident
The Barcelona president said that he believes the reaction of Eto'o, who answered back when spoken to by the coach, was, 'humanly understandable.'
"The players are under great pressure," he told AS .
"One day you can be in a bad mood, and the next in a good one, but there should be a person who sets the standard, and in this sense, I understand that Guardiola did what he thought was best for the team."
Naturally, Laporta was also questioned about his star player, Lionel Messi, who has been in the news lately regarding a shock move to Real Madrid, orchestrated by Florentino Pérez.
The president did not seem worried about the Argentine, who is contracted with Barcelona until 2014 and has a buy-out clause of €150 million.
"He is a player of Barcelona, he has a contract, he has a relationship with the club, and the club with him," he mused.
Laporta also had some words for former Real Madrid president, Ramón Calderón, who he described as, 'brave.'
"In my mind Ramón Calderón has been a great president of Real Madrid. A brave, winning, president, and we have seen that today," he told Marca .
He added that he believes he always, 'promoted the agreement and the good relations between the two clubs', but understood too, 'the sporting rivalry.'

Moreno Excited By Barcelona Return
The 33-year-old only played a handful of games in his time with the current La Liga leaders, but he has become a key part of this Numancia team.
Speaking to Marca today he revealed that he is looking forward to his return to Catalonia after so many years, and says he is, 'very excited', about visiting the Camp Nou again.
Moreno, who started the season so well for the newly promoted side, has not started every game lately, but is expected to play this Saturday evening.
In regards to the match he says that he believes Numancia, who are the only side to beat Barcelona in La Liga this season, can pick up a positive result.
"Nothing is written down, and no one knows what will happen. It will be a very good game," he mused.
Despite his positive outlook though, Moreno did admit that this match is not, 'in our league', as that will start when they meet Real Mallorca, after playing all the top teams.

Arsenal Reject Eboue Bid - Report
From the tone of much of the Arsenal support's criticism of him, one might be forgiven for thinking that Gunners fans would celebrate the departure of Ivory Coast utility player Emmanuel Eboue.
Jeered and booed so badly by an Emirates crowd during the fixture with Wigan Athletic earlier in the season that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was obliged to substitute him, the player certainly doesn't seem destined to have his picture hanging on the walls at the Arsenaltraining ground.
Now, British tabloid The Sun reports that the Arsenal have turned down an approach for the 25-year old from La Liga outfit Atletico de Madrid this week, the player's agent revealing that Arsenal have asked Eboue to stay at the Emirates.
Franjo Vranjkovic, Eboue's agent, said: "We received an official request from Atletico Madrid which was passed to Arsenal. I have the fax from director Ken Friar who wrote to me to say they are not interested in the offer.
"Then I received a call from Arsene Wenger, who invited me to go to England to start negotiations over a renewal. I see no possibility that the player will leave Arsenal."
Although Wenger's reported view of the player seems to contrast with that of many of the club's fans, it would seem that the Ivorian's stay in the Premier League has some time left to run.

Cannavaro A Doubt For Deportivo La Coruña Showdown
Marca reports that the Italian defender did not train on Monday, and even though he returned on Wednesday, he is a doubt for the match on Sunday.
Whilst the rest of the side trained outdoors in wet and windy conditions, Cannavaro worked inside, in a bid to recover for the match.
It is not yet known what injury he has, but if he does miss the Depor match, he is likely to be fully fit for the next week.
Aside from Cannavaro, Guti, Jerzy Dudek and Dani Parejo did not train due to injuries, and they all joined the Italian inside.
Coach Juande Ramos has been hoping to play the same side that beat Osasuna last weekend, but with the Italian defender a doubt, he may have to change things around.
Real Madrid will be aiming to win their fifth successive match in La Liga, and having been beaten by Deportivo on the opening day of the season, they will want revenge.
Rather than play at 17.00 on a Sunday, as they have done in recent weeks, the defending champions are the last team to play this weekend, as they kick-off at 21.00 in the Bernabéu.

Edmilson 'Frustrated' By Villarreal Exit
The midfielder told Marca that even though he wanted to succeed with the Spanish side, and was 'discontent and frustrated' to leave, he needed to playing time on the pitch.
"It is sad for me to go like this, as my intention is to do something important with every club, but things have happened this way," he began.
"For sure, everything was not right from the start, and for some time, I was ready to play matches, but the coach has not given me what I desired, and because of that, it was preferable for me to leave."
The midfielder added that he is sure that if he could have played two or three consecutive matches, he could have helped Villarreal out a lot.
Despite his obvious grief at leaving Spain though, he seems to be content with his new club, and believes that he has made the right choice.
"I am 32-years-old, I am feeling good, and I think I have taken a good decision by finding a place where I will be counted on and where I can enjoy the rest of my career as a player," he mused.
"I have tried to do my best at Villarreal, but it has not been possible, and I did not want to stay there as it was.
"I return to Brazil with the same desire that I had when I began, to confront a new challenge."

Espanyol's Oscar Sielva Out For Two Months
AS reports that the midfielder will undergo an operation on a fractured collarbone, the same injury that he suffered from earlier in the season.
On that occasion he chose not to have it operated on, but this time he has been advised to do so, as it is best for his career.
The midfielder was included in the squad at the start of the year by Bartolomé Márquez, but then got injured for the first time whilst with the Spanish Under-19 team.
When he recovered, new coach Mané began to give him minutes, and he even played in the last two games with the former coach, but now he will have to wait until the end of March to show Mauricio Pochettino his quality.
Sielva is quite highly-rated at Espanyol and no doubt this injury will be a blow to the new coach, who will want to have as many players at his disposal as possible
He made his debut for the Barcelona club at the age of just 17, and he has been a key player for the sub-Spanish sides in recent years.
Espanyol take on Valladolid this weekend, looking to build on their draw with Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey this week.

David Villa Out Of Real Mallorca Clash; Joaquín A Doubt
The striker didn't manage to complete twenty minutes of the match due to cramps in his left thigh, and AS reports that he will now miss the match with Real Mallorca.
The news will be a blow to Unai Emery and to the team, but the good news is that it is not a repeat of a previous injury, that saw him come off against Athletic Bilbao last weekend.
Indeed, apparently it is just a case of the player needing some rest, and he should be back for the Copa del Rey return-leg next week.
Along with Villa, Joaquín may not make the match at the weekend as he is struggling with an injury that he picked up yesterday against Sevilla.
Many of the Valencia players who took part in the game at the Mestalla trained indoors today, and so many were absent that Emery had to call on ten players from the reserve team.
David Silva, David Albedla, Miguel Brito and Fernando Morientes all carried out specific work in the gym, whilst Renan should find out on Monday whether or not he will have to have an operation on his injury.
Valencia travel to Mallorca this weekend knowing that they have to win to keep pace with the top three, who have established a four point lead over Los Che.

Juanfran Not Surprised By Real Madrid Refereeing Bias
Juanfran, who was booked once in the first-half and then again towards of the match, has had the latter of his cards taken away this week by the Competition Committee, however, he claims that he did not dive at either time.
"I simply said the same thing as I did with the second penalty, that I didn't dive. They should take away both, but I just want to play this Saturday, and I already am," he said.
The midfielder also spoke about the game as a whole, and declared that it is not a surprise for sides going to the Bernabéu not to get decisions.
"It is normal, it is in the Bernabéu, against Real Madrid," he began.
"This has happened a few times but I have not seen players sent-off many times. Everyone has seen the injustice that is currently with Osasuna; the referees hardly ever favour us. This has already happened to us and, again, where better than in the Bernabéu, where the repercussion is greater.
"I believe that everyone will have an opinion of what happened and it will effect the referees when they whistle. What has happened to us for the past year-and-a-half has been lunacy. We have had decisions against us that nobody can understand."
Indeed, the two incidents that Juanfran was booked for both appeared to be penalties, and the referee in charge of the game has been sanctioned for his performance.
The Osasuna midfielder was more concerned today by what they had lost at the Bernabéu though.
"What is important to us are the points and I am sure that we would have come away with some if the officials had not made mistakes," he concluded.

Roberto Abbondanzieri And Getafe President Torres Make Peace
Previously, the Argentine had reported to be furious with what he called "transfer games" concerning his proposed move to Boca Juniors, but it looks as though everything has been resolved.
According to reports, Abbondanzieri and Torres made up with a hug and a kiss at training today. The goalkeeper also confirmed that he will be staying with Getafe until June.
Torres assured that he is "a player of Getafe until June 30" when Boca Juniors will be able to then sign him.
Similarly, the agent of the player, Ricardo Schlieper, stated that relationship between the club and the player is good, explaining: "It is an option that pleases me, and the relations between the two are good."
It looked as though Abbondanzieri would be moving to Boca at one point this winter, but the deal breaker was believed to be his price tag.
Torres declared a few days ago that the reason they had not signed him was because they refused to pay what Getafe wanted and Boca are now seemingly prepared to wait six months for the player, whose contract expires in the summer.
Getafe have slipped down to 14th in La Liga following their defeat to Racing Santander last weekend, and they take on Sporting Gijón this Sunday.

Spanish Debate: How Do Pep's Barcelona Compare To The Class Of 2006?
They were etched in history as outstanding champions; the most illustrious of universities that requires the most disciplined and focused of minds in order to turn that that incredible start into the sort of prolonged success that defines a legend.
Suffices to say, they pissed it all away.
The lazy, arrogant and directionless descent that followed was reminiscent of many a student - they probably weren't paying taxes, either - and the potential to match Real Madrid's Galacticos, AC Milan's Invincibles or Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United went down the drain - but it didn't last long.
It was perhaps just 18 months between one brilliant Barcelona and another. Club legend Pep Guardiola was promoted from his role of 'B' team boss to take his first ever senior coaching role. A risk? Unquestionably - but it looks to have paid off in ways Joan Laporta cannot have even dreamt of being so immediately possible.
The Blaugrana go into 2009 much the same way they went into 2006 - the best team in the world and destined for success - but just how do the two sides compare?
We must first consider that Frank Rijkaard's side were the picture of excellence for almost two years, while 'Los Peps' have managed just over four months of formidable football. That being said, Rijkaard's men completed a cycle; we saw their public and dramatic demise and that of course clouds the judgement, while Pep's side remain pure and untainted by embarrassing failure.
At the back, this side has added experience - and it shows. This season, Barcelona have often played with a patience underpinned by an incredible sense of confidence that they needn't score right away, as they simply will not concede as easily as they used to. Individually, there has been slight improvement in Victor Valdes, with Eric Abidal stronger but less canny than Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Dani Alves of course an incredible addition, but the centre-backs aren't quite the force they used to be.
The added steel in midfield has made all the difference in improving the defence and also breaking down more stubborn opposition. Xavi has kicked up another gear, while Andres Iniesta has been a revelation. The new team lacks a Deco - who when in his prime, rolled all into one that you could want of a player in his position - but the setup is such that they do not need him anymore.
Up front, the new school desperately lack a Henrik Larsson. Guardiola was keen to sign one of Didier Drogba or Emmanuel Adebayor in the summer, but failed on both counts. There is no target up front - no alternative for when the going gets tough - and it is simply a tactical necessity of which a coach as astute as Pep will be painfully aware.
Meanwhile, comparing one Samuel Eto'o with another is a hard task. He has rattled in a disturbing amount of goals so far this season, but his performances haven't always inspired confidence as they once did, and his understanding with Lionel Messi is not yet on a par with what it was with Ronaldinho.
And indeed, when comparing the two No. 10s, it cannot yet be said that Leo is quite what Ronaldinho was when he was on top of the world. Perhaps the Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo of this era, the two friends are separated purely by Ronaldinho's erstwhile ability to do it all, whereas Messi still has his limitations, not to mention comparitive physical fragility. What Messi has on his side is the regime of discipline, something he adhered to even before Pep, and it is something that will ensure that his greatness is not marred by matters of his own undoing.
What can be said of Messi can be said of his team. The class of 2006 was more talented, but Rijkaard and Ronaldinho were very much talismanic of their eventually underwhelming rise and fall. There's a new teacher in town, and while class may not be quite as fun as it used to be, each A is as sweet as the last, and the more they get, the sooner they will surpass their predecessors - and who would bet against it?
