At the age of twenty seven Iker Casillas has already achieved quite a lot for both club and country and today he added another trophy to his collection as he collected the Zamora Trophy for best goalkeeper last year.
The Real Madrid shot-stopper is widely regarded as one of the best in the world and next up for him with Los Blancos is the Madrid derby against local rivals Atlético. Their cross-town neighbours were humbled 6-1 by Barcelona at the weekend but Casillas says that this will make them even more determined to retaliate against his side.
"The calendar we have is complicated and we do not know if it is good or bad what Barcelona did," he explained, [Atlético] They will want to bounce back and what better setting than in the Calderón against Real Madrid to do just that."
"The fans will want to see their team at its best," he remarked.
Whilst Atlético lost to one Barcelona team Real Madrid failed to beat another as they drew 2-2 with Espanyol on Sunday and keeper Casillas has nothing but praise for Pep Guardiola's team.
"They have earned their three points and they have shown that they are a good team with great potential."
"For Atlético it has been unlucky because it was an unusual game, out of the ordinary. That they conceded three goals in eight minutes is not seen every day, in fact, it is the first time I have seen it. We all have bad games though," he concluded.
