Numancia managed their first victory since beating Barcelona on the opening day of the season, but they were made to fight all the way to the end by Racing.
Coach Sergio Kresic praised the reselience of his players after Cisma had popped up 6 minutes into injury time to turn one point into an unlikely three.
Numancia had led going into the injury time but Santander forward Tchite scored from the spot on ninety minutes to give Racing what looked like a 1-1 draw. Then Cisma scored to take the pressure off relieved manager Kresic.
The Croatian told journalists after the match, " I have to commend the attitude and commitment of my players, their conduct was exemplary. We almost lost our victory, where we saw the good and the bad of our team, but we managed to take advantage of the opportunities we had."
However the coach was quick to mention that neither side had brought much quality to the match, saying that 'neither team had really given everything'.
Numancia's victory moves them out of the drop zone while Racing, despite changing coach, continue to slide down the table despite bringing in Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz to steady the ship.
