Agüero: I Was Inspired

After helping guide Atlético Madrid to a brilliant 3-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in their opening Champions League match, Sergio Agüero acknowledged that he was in inspired form.

The diminutive Argentine grabbed both the first and the second goals in the Philips Stadion and he admits that he was on top of his game, “I was stepped on in the game against Valladolid but tonight I was feeling amazing. We are very happy with the victory and we played very well.”

Agüero only played the second half at the weekend after returning from international duty but even in the short space of time he had he managed to get himself on the score sheet. Against PSV he was yet again the standout player of the Atlético Madrid side although he preferred to talk about the team’s performance rather than his own.

“We intend to continue with this great form,” he said, “ We were feeling very confident during this game and thanks to that we have been rewarded.”

For PSV it was a hugely disappointing result at home and they must now pick themselves up to face Liverpool at Anfield in two weeks time. Atlético on the other hand will play host to Marseille in Madrid as they look to make it six points from their opening two games.
