Rossi Keen To Make His Mark

Following a tremendous season in La Liga last term, and some dazzling performances for the Italian Under-21s, Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has been called up by Marcello Lippi for the first time in his career.

He was one of four newcomers to be named in the Italian national squad, and the youngster impressed the boss early by being amongst the first players to arrive at the Coverciano.

It is here where the team will begin their preparations for their two upcoming World Cup qualifiers, against both Bulgaria and Montenegro, and Rossi has clearly shown the enthusiasm and the attitude required to be part of it.

Following the arrival of the Villarreal star, the other Azzurri players began to arrive in numbers. Amongst them were both Gianluigi Buffon and Mauro Camoranesi, two players who still remain doubtful due to injury.

Later today, the players will have their first public training session together at the Coverciano, at around 10.30am.

The Azzurri have started well in their World Cup qualifying group, with two victories over Cyprus and Georgia, and they will certainly be hoping that both Buffon and Camoranesi manage to overcome their injuries in time.
