Barça And Valencia Fighting For Keirrison?

Transfer time might have passed but it seems as though everyone is already preparing for next year, with Barcelona and Valencia the latest clubs in Spain to reportedly be chasing a young target.

The name of said target; Keirrison, a striker who plays for Brazilian side Coritiba and has scored a remarkable 54 goals in 100 appearances for the club. The nineteen year old is believed to have already signed a pre-contract with another Brazilian club, Palmeiras, but with illustrious names like Barcelona and Valencia fighting over him that could be a minor point.

In fact, Spanish paper AS reports that Director of Football for Barcelona, Txiki Begiristain, was in Brazil this week to discuss a possible move and even tied down a figure of €13 million. However, in contrast to that report it has been written in Spain that the agent for Keirrison, Marcos Malaquias, has flat out denied the Barcelona story and has instead suggested that he or a club representative will be meeting with Valencia soon.

It is thought that the striker would at first be a back-up to Samuel Eto'o and possibly Bojan Krkic in Catalonia and might even go the same way as Henrique, who was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen after signing for Barcelona.

Indeed, to add to the intrigue the agents at the heart of this deal are believed to be the same ones who dealt with Henrique, and Valencia are thought to have been in touch with them for about a month, meaning no deal is tied down with Barcelona as has been reported.
