Aguirre: Injuries No Excuse

Los Colchoneros' coach was adamant that while he has had to draft in some youngsters, that will be no reason to not take on the French and try and beat them in the Spanish capital.

Atlético won their opening game in impressive style at PSV, but now must contend with injuries to Giourkas Seitaridis, Pablo Ibñez, Diego Forlán, Simão and Maniche.

"We have to go for victory because we're the home side. We showed against PSV we like to play and we want to do so again against Marseille," Aguirre told reporters.

"Our substitutes' bench will feature some young players. It's true we have a lot of absentees but this is the Champions League and these things happen.
"We'll deal with it. We're at home and will feel the warm support of our fans on what will be an emotional occasion for everyone."

Marseille lost at home to Liverpool in their first game of the group stage, but Aguirre is not taking anything for granted and expects the visitors to pose a few problems.

"We fear their speed, they attack quickly and are explosive moving forward from midfield," he added.
