David Villa has moved to distance himself from recent rumours suggesting Valencia are close to agreeing a deal to sell him to Barcelona.
Spanish newspaper Marca ran an article recently stating that Los Che had verbally agreed to sell the striker to Barca for a reported €40million with Alexander Hleb and Bojan Krkic moving to the Mestalla in exchange.
The Spain international has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the past few summers with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United linked with the 28-year-old in recent years.
Valencia have managed to resist the temptation of cashing in on their prized asset despite their precarious financial position but it appears likely that the former Zaragoza frontman will move on in the next few months.
However with the World Cup looming Villa is determined to concentrate on matters on the pitch.
"Now I am focused on my work and on the World Cup," he said.
"I do not desire to enter into controversies and rumours like last summer."
