Mourinho bullish over talks

Mourinho bullish over talks

Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho is set to force through his protracted move to Real Madrid after talks between the two clubs stalled.

Negotiations have reached a sticking point as Inter aim to secure suitable financial compensation for losing their UEFA Champions League-winning manager.

Mourinho told Spanish newspaper AS : "I don't want to leave Inter on bad terms but I am sure that I will coach Real Madrid whether I have to do it the easy way or the hard way.

"I am already part of the history of Inter and vice versa. They know how I am and know that a new contract or earning more money would not change my mind.

"They know it's not worth fighting for me."

Talks are believed to be ongoing although the two clubs have yet to reach a compromise on compensation with Inter maintaining their desire to receive the full 16 million euros (just over Ј13.5million) due to them under the terms of Mourinho's contract.

Payment

Inter sporting director Marco Branca stated "Inter are in no hurry" and the club "will not yield on the payment of the clause".

The stalemate has resulted in a slight delay to Madrid's plans to unveil Mourinho with Valdano admitting: "Mourinho will arrive in Madrid, probably next week.

"He may arrive on Tuesday, Monday is almost impossible."

Ill-timed

Meanwhile, Inter president Moratti has accused Mourinho of ruining the club's Champions League victory celebrations by announcing his intention to move to the Bernabeu.

Following the most successful season in Inter's history, Moratti told the Gazzetta dello Sport that he was grateful for Mourinho's hard work, but his announcement about his future was ill-timed.

He also expressed his bitterness at the Portuguese's departure, which has yet to be finalised due to a buy out clause in his contract.

"There is a clause, and the party, if someone has ruined it, it is Mourinho by leaving," he said.

"But just so it's clear, I will be eternally grateful for everything he's done, for the joy he brought to this club.

"I hope we'll come to an agreement in the following hours or at least in the next few days.

"And it's a matter for both clubs, not just Inter."
