Valero set for Baggies return

Valero set for Baggies return

Borja Valero is set to return to England this summer after Real Mallorca confirmed they would not be buying the midfielder back from West Brom.

The Baggies signed the 25-year-old in the summer of 2008 but after failing to keep them in the Premier League, he rejoined Mallorca on loan this season.

Valero was one of the surprises in this season's La Liga, scoring five goals in 21 games to help Mallorca qualify for next season's Europa League.

The Balearic club had agreed a fee of Ј2.5million to make the move permanent this summer but have now told West Brom they cannot afford to take up the clause.

Plans

Valero is unsure if he will figure in Roberto Di Matteo's plans after he steered the Baggies back into the top flight and he wants to be assured of getting regular game-time.

And if Valero is deemed surplus to requirements at The Hawthorns, Blackburn and Villarreal are thought to be interested in the former Real Madrid trainee.

"Now I return to West Brom but I do not know the intentions of the club about me," he said.

"I've only heard rumours because nobody has spoken with me until now.

"My desire is to be with a club where I have a chance to play some minutes."
