Karim Benzema insists he is happy at Real Madrid despite missing out on France's World Cup squad.
The 22-year-old striker was overlooked by Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech for his provisional 30-man squad after an uninspiring first season in Spain.
Benzema, who has scored eight goals in 27 appearances for France since making his international debut in 2007, made a Ј30million move from Lyon to Real last summer.
He signed a six-year contract with the Spanish giants but failed to make the desired impact in his debut season at the Bernabeu, with only 14 of his 26 league appearances coming as a starter, scoring eight goals.
Benzema claims he has no desire to move on, though, and is focusing on producing a much-improved campaign next season.
"I am very happy at Real Madrid and the club trust me," he said.
Great experience"I'm not disappointed (with the season). It's a great experience to play for Real Madrid and next season will be much better.
"I wish I had been better, but this is the first of six seasons I will be here. The next year I hope to be much better.
"I know when I play well and when I play bad," Benzema added.
"It's been a very difficult year for me because it is the first time I'm out of my country, away from my family and my friends.
"The bottom line for me is work, work, work."
Real Madrid were dumped out of the Champions League's last 16 by Benzema's former club Lyon while their Spanish title challenge has been led by world-record signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, who have scored 53 league goals between them.
Down to the wire
Manuel Pellegrini's men head into the final round of Primera Liga fixtures this weekend a point behind arch-rivals Barcelona so must win at Malaga and hope Barca fail to beat Real Valladolid at Camp Nou.
"They will be hard games," said Benzema.
"If Barcelona win they are champions, but we have to focus on our match against Malaga and not think of Barcelona."
