Luis Fabiano will be forced to sit out the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday after picking up a thigh injury.
The news has rocked Sevilla's plans ahead of the crunch clash, with their attacking options now left in tatters.
They are already set to be without the suspended Alvaro Negredo and must now cope without the services of both of their first-choice strikers.
Fabiano picked up the knock during the warm-up for Saturday's Primera Liga date with Almeria.
The 29-year-old is Sevilla's top scorer this season and is devastated to have been ruled out of the meeting with Atletico Madrid.
He has now flown back to his native Brazil where he will join up with the national side ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Fabiano is set to be a key player for Dunga's team in South Africa as they attempt to land global glory for the sixth time.
"I'm relaxed, and Brazilian fans can also stay calm because I'll be 100 per cent at the World Cup," he said in a statement.
