The Andalusia club take a 2-0 lead to Austria for the second leg, and Duscher is under no illusions that the tie is over, particularly on Salzburg’s artificial turf.
He said, “We have to adapt, it is a little different from a natural surface, but we will suffer if they manage to get a goal. What we must do is try and kill the tie as soon as possible.”
An away goal would leave the hosts needing four goals to qualify, which you feel would be insurmountable task for the Austrian side. Especially given that Sevilla boast an unbeaten record in all competitions this season, a record that Duscher is particularly proud of.
“We have to go game by game because (in La Liga) anyone can beat anyone. In today’s highly competitive football going so long without losing shows great merit. But we have to keep working, we must settle because tomorrow we can lose and everything becomes negative.”
Sevilla have won their last two in La Liga, beating Espanyol 2-0 at home, before performing excellently to overcome Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon thanks to Luis Fabiano winner. They will be overwhelming favourites to progress to the group stages and continue their excellent record in the competition.
