As with every transfer window there has been no shortage of posturing, rhetoric, and good old-fashioned idiocy from some of the great and good of the beautiful game.

One of the most embarassing sagas of the summer related to the concept of 'football slavery.' In this day and age of player power and multi-million dollar contracts at the top level, some august personages saw fit to compare the lot of, say, Cristiano Ronaldo, to that of a serf.

There has been no shortage of point and counterpoint over the issue, with some people making more sense than others... and some less.
