Real still waiting on Ron

Real still waiting on Ron

Further tests on Cristiano Ronaldo's ankle injury have shown no sign of improvement.

That means Real Madrid must continue to cope without the services of their record-breaking summer acquisition.

World Player of the Year Ronaldo first picked up the problem during a UEFA Champions League meeting with Marseille in September.

He then aggravated the knock when turning out for Portugal in a crucial World Cup qualifier against Hungary.

Ronaldo has subsequently been forced to sit out Real's last seven fixtures, of which the Spanish giants have won just two.

It had been hoped that the 24-year-old would be given the all clear in time for Saturday's derby date with capital rivals Atletico Madrid.

However, having undergone another medical examination, Ronaldo has little chance of making that fixture.

He has been advised against returning to training until the injury has healed, and he must now wait for further tests to be carried out before being able to resume his Santiago Bernabeu career.
