Seydou Keita looks set to miss Mali's World Cup qualifier with Ghana this weekend due to a knee injury.
The Barcelona midfielder picked up a slight knock while on domestic duty against Real Mallorca on Saturday.
The in-form 29-year-old, who has scored four goals in Barca's last four fixtures, damaged his left knee during the 4-2 victory at Camp Nou.
After resting the injury for 24 hours, he underwent medical tests on Monday in an effort to determine the full extent of the problem.
The results of those examinations have forced club doctors to advice Keita to avoid playing for 10 days and continue with treatment in Spain.
It is therefore unlikely that he will report for international duty, with Mali having already failed to secure qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
