Atalanta have finalised a deal to sign Uruguayan striker Javier Chevanton.
The Sevilla ace will move to Serie A on 1st January after a loan deal until the end of the season was agreed.
Chevanton has sunk down the pecking order at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with the likes of Luis Fabiano, Fredi Kanoute, Alvaro Negredo and Arouna Kone all ahead of him.
He has now agreed to join Atalanta, primarily in order to secure a place in Uruguay's World Cup squad.
"I have an objective and that is to play in the World Cup finals next year with the Uruguayan national team and that's why I have said that the transfer to Atalanta is important for me," he said.
Sevilla coach Jose Maria del Nido revealed that the club's coaches wanted to see Chevanton play more regularly.
The loan move of Chevanton was done at the request of the coaches who think that he needs to play regularly," said del Nido.
