Maradona warns over Aguero

Argentina coach Diego Maradona says Atletico Madrid must build a team around his son-in-law Sergio Aguero or let him leave.

The 21-year-old striker, who had a son with Maradona's daughter Giannina earlier this year, joined Atletico from Argentine side Independiente in 2006, with his contract running until 2012.

But after finishing fourth in La Liga last term, the side are currently in the relegation zone and already out of the UEFA Champions League.

Maradona now believes the Spanish side must invest or allow the Argentina international to leave.

His comments come as Argentina prepare to take on Spain in a friendly on Saturday - which Aguero is due to sit out because of injury.

Worthy

Maradona told Marca : "To make the best of Aguero's qualities they must create a team worthy of him and sign some players.

"Otherwise they must let him go and not harm his development."

Meanwhile, Maradona has repeated his claim that he rates his own country's Lionel Messi more highly than Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

He said Ronaldo "did incredible things with Manchester (United) but Messi wreaks more havoc. The ball is stuck to his foot!"
