Sevilla rule out Fabiano sale

Sevilla rule out Fabiano sale

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has stated that he will not be selling Brazilian star Luis Fabiano in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old striker has attracted the interest of a number of European clubs during his spell at the Spanish side.

AC Milan entered negotiations with Sevilla over the summer and a host of English sides are reportedly expressing an interest in Fabiano.

But Del Nido insists that he has not received a formal approach over a move in January and has now decided not to sell his prize asset.

"Nobody has made an enquiry about Luis Fabiano," the president said.

"Our idea is for him to stay at our club for many years, we have now totally discarded a possible sale in January because we are battling in many competitions and he is needed at the club."

Del Nido refused to say whether Fabiano would possibly be signing a new contract in the New Year, stating that he is not focusing on off-field issues.

He added: "We are not thinking about that at the moment.

"Sevilla has the most competitive team in all its history and with these players we hope to achieve our objectives."
