Tamudo in limbo at Espanyol

Tamudo in limbo at Espanyol

Wigan Athletic target Raul Tamudo has admitted that things for him at Espanyol are not easy as he comes to terms with the controversy surrounding whether or not he wanted to leave the club.

The problems between him and the club have seen his chances of earning a new deal next summer virtually disappear and he has been omitted from the squad during the public spat.

While Tamudo claims that he has never tried to force his way out of Espanyol, club officials, including the president, begged to differ and the rift has hurt the player and he is now likely to head to England in January.

"It is not a good situation for anyone," he told TV3 . "From one day to the next it is not easy not being able to play and wear the team's shirt.

"But now at least people are focussing on Espanyol and not on Raul Tamudo which means that we are all in the same boat here.

"Things are not easy because many things that are being said are not true.

"In the end, all I want is to play. I look forward to being able to wear the shirt and kiss the badge again because that will mean that I have scored.

"It is what I have done throughout my career and what I want to continue to do.

"At no time have I wanted to offend anyone and only wanted the opposite, which is to score goals and help the team."
