Atletico fined for coin incident

Atletico fined for coin incident

Atletico Madrid have been handed a paltry fine of just 150 Euros for their fans' behaviour in the recent derby against Real Madrid.

Real manager Manuel Pellegrini was hit in the face by a coin thrown from an Atletico supporter midway through the second-half causing the referee to halt play for around a minute.

The Chilean was not seriously hurt and played down the incident at the end of the game after seeing his side run out 3-2 winners.

It is not the first time Atletico have been punished for their fans' behaviour after they were hit with a 3,000 Euro fine when supporters threw missiles at Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop in the 2005/06 season.

However, they have managed to get away with a lenient punishment this time around with a spokeswoman for the Spanish Soccer Federation confirming the fine of 150 Euros [Ј133].
