Johan Cruyff has returned to coaching after reaching an agreement to take charge of the Catalunya team with the local football federation.
The Dutch legend is still revered in Barcelona and was approached to become the trainer of the side that play unofficial friendly encounters every year.
After lengthy negotiations, Cruyff agreed to the deal with the Catalan Football Federation and returns to coaching after 13 years out of the game.
"The Football Federation and Mr Johan Cruyff have reached an agreement for the Dutchman to become the coach of the Catalan team and a collaborator with the federation on various projects," read a statement on the Catalan Football Federation's official website .
Cruyff spent five years at Camp Nou as a player in the 1970s and returned in 1988 to take charge of the team as head coach, enjoying unprecedented success.
As well as leading the club to four consecutive league titles, the former Ajax star oversaw the club's first ever European Cup success in 1992.
Catalunya play one or two friendlies each year, usually in Camp Nou, and have taken on some prestigious opponents, such as Brazil and Argentina, in recent seasons.
