We Haven't Won Anything Yet - Puyol

Barcelona might have drawn all the plaudits in recent weeks for their stylish and silky play, but today the rough and tumble man of the side, Carles Puyol, was talking about keeping their feet on the ground.

"Everyone speaks about us being good and we are in a positive moment. We must take advantage of that, but also we need to continue the same as we have done up to now. We need to give 100% and play our best, because if we believe we are better we will lose. We haven't won anything yet," he told Marca.

"Now we are winning games, and that is key. It is clear that when things go well and there are good results, the atmosphere is better, but in this side there has never been a bad atmosphere. In the previous phase there was a different style of work that gave good results, but to continue speaking about that makes no sense."

The praise so far might have gone for the Lionel Messi's and the Xavi's of the team, but there is no doubt that Puyol has excelled in defence. The Spaniard has often been played out of position but he has led by example and is the main reason why they have conceded just eight goals in La Liga.

This weekend they take on Getafe, who drew at the Camp Nou last year, and Puyol knows they will not be easy opponents.

"Last season was hard, because we were approaching the end and nobody was expecting it. They are a team who caused us trouble and always create problems," he mused.

"They always come here [Camp Nou] with many desires and that should make us stand to attention, because we will have to play all game."
