Villarreal Defender Eguren Released From Hospital

The Uruguayan, who only just returned to the starting line-up after injuring a hamstring a month ago, was involved in a severe head clash earlier today that left his temple badly wounded.

He was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility but it appears that the move has merely been a precautionary measure, and Eguren has been allowed home with his teammates.

Villarreal were involved in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Malaga today, a match they led on two occasions before defender Rosario grabbed the home side a last-gasp point.

Although they will undoubtedly be disappointed with the result, the news that Eguren has suffered no further complications to his injury is consolation to Pellegrini, as at the time the 27-year old's plight appeared to be extremely worrying.

However, after a number of medical tests confirmed the injury was not as serious as first thought, Eguren should be fit to Valladolid at El Madrigal next weekend.

Villarreal's slip means Barcelona can extend their lead at the top of the Primera division by winning at Recreativo this evening.
