When Barcelona win handsomely, as is often the case these days, club president Joan Laporta is never shy of offering his take on things. It was no different on Saturday night, as he offered his musings on Barca's 6-0 demolition of Real Valladolid.
Jumping straight to the point, Laporta told reporters, "It is a historic occasion when a player score four goals in a match and it is a credit to the whole team, but we must recognise that Eto'o has been marvellous and that provides us with great happiness."
Moving on to the meeting of new Argentina coach Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi, Laporta stated, "The appointment of Maradona is good for football, and he will know how to take care of Messi and continue his special progress."
Finally, Laporta paid tribute to stricken golfer Seve Ballesteros, who is recovering from a brain tumour in hospital: "He is a great Barcelonista who is going through a difficult time, and on behalf of the whole club I want to dedicate the victory to him and express our wishes that he recovers as soon as possible."
