Goals aplenty were expected at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday night, but Sevilla and Valencia never looked like they would score a single one.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Manolo Jimenez said, "We were not clever in front of goal. We have players of great quality but they made silly mistakes, probably because of the intensity of the occasion and the strong desire to win.
"We have gained a point but we wanted to gain three, against a team that played on the counter. Still, it is a point well earned against magnificent team that could have won it at any moment through individual brilliance."
The Sevilla coach then offered his final thoughts on the encounter, saying, "Our first twenty minutes were poor, but then we improved. In the end the defence won over the attack."
Jimenez also expressed his sadness at the fact that Jesus Navas will miss next week's blockbuster against Barcelona, describing the wing wizard as a "fundamental and indispensable footballer".
