Javier Saviola Ready To Help Madrid

The last thing thing Bernd Schuster needs in this time of crisis is to have two first choice strikers injured, but luckily for the German he has talent in reserve at Real Madrid.

Argentine international Javier Saviola might not have been a star since he joined Los Blancos but now, with the club in a time of need, he says he is ready to help.

"With the situation we are in there are possibilities for me to play for the first team," El Conejo told Marca.

"I hope the coach will see it in the same way. I am always willing to play for the team, always ready to help.

"We have a very bad run of injuries, but one must take heed of the situation. In this squad there are other players who can do the job well."

Know Fear

Real Madrid narrowly overcame Recreativo at the weekend by one goal to nil and they now take on BATE Borisov in the Champions League this week, in a game Saviola knows is key.

"We do not fear anything but we are aware of the importance of the game and the fundamental thing is to get a result," he said.

"We will be going after a victory from the first minute, we cannot be indecisive. The team are optimistic, we know that we can obtain the win."

Despite the obvious troubles in the team and at the club at the moment, the Argentine, who has rarely played under Schuster, is remaining positive.

"The first thing we need to do is to get a good run of victories and that will give us confidence and make us stronger. From there we will play our best football," he mused.

"We do not forgot that we are still up at the top of the league - that is positive and important."
