M'Bami opts for Almeria

MBami opts for Almeria

Modeste M'Bami is set to join Primera Liga outfit Almeria after failing to win a contract at Wigan.

The Cameroon international had spent the last few weeks training with the Latics, but was informed on Tuesday that the club had no plans to offer him a deal.

Keen to find employment as soon as possible, with next summer's World Cup weighing on his mind, the midfielder has wasted no time in turning his attentions elsewhere.

Almeria have made their interest known and should M'Bami successfully negotiate a medical he is expected to complete a move to Spain before the weekend.

Interested

Reports suggest that the African ace will pen an initial one-year deal with Hugo Sanchez's side, with the option of a two-year extension next summer.

The former Marseille enforcer has revealed that he is excited by the prospect of moving to Spain, while he also admitted that financial issues prevented him from striking a deal with Wigan.

"I am very interested in the Primera Liga because it is one of the best leagues in the world," said M'Bami.

He added: "There were a few issues which prevented a deal being closed with Wigan, with money being the main problem."
